June 16, 201016 yr Hello, I would really appreciate any feedback on this website: www.tankfest.org I realise that this isn't up to the standard of your designs - but I am primarily a server side programmer. Any help greatly appreciated. Many Thanks, Joel
June 16, 201016 yr Hello, I would really appreciate any feedback on this website: www.tankfest.org I realise that this isn't up to the standard of your designs - but I am primarily a server side programmer. Any help greatly appreciated. Many Thanks, Joel overall I think you have done a good job and the site style seems to fit well with the subject matter. Footer - it looks nice but the address / tel numbers etc could be clearer. Perhaps it would be better to remove them from the image and add them as normal text over the top of the image to make it more legible ? You've done a decent job overall
June 16, 201016 yr Hi, Try and maintain a constant size gap between all the layout boxes rather than a bigger gap down the middle between the "buy your tickets" and "meet the desert warriors". If you make the quality of the JPG higher and less blur when you export the header and footer, that should solve your problem. James.
June 17, 201016 yr Author Hey guys, I really appreciate the feedback regarding the website. @Series - I agree having the text on the footer image is a bit of a short cut- I find myself copying and pasting the postcode from other websites footers and this way its impossible. @James - Regarding the gaps - I assume you refer to the horizontal gap between "buy your tickets" & "meet the desert warriors". From which other section does this gap differ is size? (you have hit on something that someone else mentioned to me). Also regarding the JPEG quality - I always find it hard to strike the balance between image quality and image size. Any advice that you have on exporting these at a better quality would be well received. Also just another note I delivered the website (all of the pages) for well under the £100 mark - relating to other web designers is this a fair price?
June 17, 201016 yr Judging by your post I was expecting something terrible but its actually very smart. I don't like the black/white colour scheme in the pods - Im always very wary of using black or white as they can look too harsh - both together I think is a big no no!
June 17, 201016 yr A great looking site. I actually looked through it all. Nice one! Couple of tiny, tiny points for the homepage: Definitely take out 'Homepage' from the meta title Maybe change the Meta Title to: 'Tankfest 2010: Tank Display & Exhibition - Tank Museum Bovington' (no more the 70 characters) Definitely take out Microsite from the Meta Description Maybe change the description to something like 'Visit TankFest 2010 - Tank Display & Exhibition from the Tank Museum Bovington, Dorset. A great day out for all the family' I love the navigation but I would highlight the Buy Now button with maybe a different subtle background shade. Its ya main call to action so it should be obvious. I would even go so far and place a link under the dates on the homepage 'Book NOW >>>>>' Regs, Numb
June 17, 201016 yr Hi The site looks nice, On the homepage align the pictures on the side, they all aligned differently. Bella
June 17, 201016 yr As others have said, I expected something terrible and was very pleasantly suprised. I can't see anything that stands out as a 'must change' .Generally I don't like big banners as they take up real eastat but in your case they fit well as it's a very visual subject. And I love the domain name, Tank Fest, sublime! S PS is this really your first site? what did you use to build it?
June 17, 201016 yr Hi, please have a glance at the screen shot. Screenshot The red arrows show the gaps i'm referring to. maybe make them the same distance as the green arrow?
June 17, 201016 yr Your website looks good to me. I liked the images part.Navigation part is good. Once we enter into tankmuseum through navigation menu, then it opens a new website altogether, then I found no link to tankfest.org...I don't know was this problem on my system or others too experienced the same!!
June 17, 201016 yr Also just another note I delivered the website (all of the pages) for well under the £100 mark - relating to other web designers is this a fair price? I'm afraid you have given your talent away. £300-£400 would have been nearer the mark. I hope The museum have at least given you some complementary tickets. And I hope they will give you a large free advert in their programme too!!!! All the best, Numb
