World Cup Logo

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Just found your forum, this is actually my first post but looks like a very active place, look forward to getting involved.

Does anyone know about the use of the world cup logo in promotional material such as enewsletters / websites / flyers / etc ?

I have seen this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:2010_FIFA_World_Cup_logo.svg

Just wondering if its ok to use the logo for promo material or do you have to apply to use it (as the wiki suggests) or can you just use it and hope that it doesnt get looked into?

If it is essential to apply to use it, anyone done this already? how long did it take for authorisation, easy to obtain, etc?

All thoughts most appreciated.

Martyn.

Probably depends on the use, I guess if it's on wikipedia it means that it's okay to use for non commercial purposes and without modification.

Am I the only person who really doesn't like that logo. >_>

At least it's not at bad as our 2012 olympics one.. that's just dreadful.

I dont mind the logo actually. Got to agree with you on the olympics one though - shockingly poor.

It will be for commerical use, not to resell the logo but to use the logo as part of promo material for multiple companies marketing campaigns.

So... anyone else got any experience in this area?

Thanks - Martyn.

taken from the FIFA website (yes I am aware of the irony)

19. TRADEMARK AND COPYRIGHT INFORMATION

A. FIFA, the FIFA logo, the emblems and mascots of FIFA events including the emblem and mascot of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ and other FIFA logos and product and service names are trademarks and copyright material of FIFA (the "FIFA Marks"). You'll definitely need permission. One of my mates actually works for the company that holds the licensing rights for FIFA. He's always on the look out for unofficial use.

You're right, it's not as bad as our Olympic one. that cost £300K if I remember correctly. I'm definitely in the wrong job.

I'm guessing the World Cup one wasn't designed here or political correctness would have swept in and not allowed the player to be all black.

Haha, yeah the olympics one gives me a major headache.

LOL we'd probably have each limb a different skin tone or something.
