May 30, 201016 yr Hello all! I'm in the design process of my portfolio website. What do you think of the home page? I've attached it. Feedback regarding layout and balance are particularly appreciated, as well as advice on how to improve anything! Thank you.
May 31, 201016 yr Well my 2pence is: A bit more padding around the text, especially in the tweet box. Maybe use a sans serif font for your body text? Text in the footer looks a bit bland for some reason I can't quite put my finger on. The bevel(?) at the top of your footer isn't fitting. I can't decide whether buttons match they style of the page or not... Other than those minor niggles I'd say that's a good looking site Nice colors and layout. ~evu.
May 31, 201016 yr The style of the website tends to be swinging towards a more sans-serif type only. I believe the colour scheme is good but the typgoraphy is letting the design down. The leading in particular is slightly to small. A good article regarding this matter can be found here: http://www.aisleone.net/2009/design/8-ways-to-improve-your-typography/ Furthermore, throughout the design try to maintain consistent padding and margin values as well as keeping everything aligned nicely. A few more iterations and I believe this design will be a beauty
May 31, 201016 yr Author Thanks a lot for your feedback, guys. I've made some adjustments based on what you said (and the typography article was brilliant, thanks for that) and so here is the latest try. Any more suggestions?
June 1, 201016 yr Chris, The design is wicked, I like the colour scheme and you have arranged the content in an easy to read way, especially in the second example now that you have played with the typography. You could try having headings in a different colour to the paragraph text to further emphasize headings. This shouuld only be subtle, maybe make the paragraph text a slightly lighter colour than the headings?
