Navigation Problem

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I have just about finished my website but at the end have just started adding the anchors to navigation bar. When it is not linked the hovers don't work and if i have two navigation divs linked it will only go to one which is a problem on a 6 page navigation.

The link to my website is http://www.benwhitedesign.co.uk/ and i would be EXTREMELY grateful if someone will be able to find where the problem is as i have tried everything get it working again.

I know there is a gap between the end of the content and the footer, i will be fixing that soon but at the moment i'm trying to get the nav sorted :D

Many Thanks,

Ben

Why have you got divs inside your anchor links?

<div id="navigation_main">
   <a href="Index.html"><div id="home_current"></div></a>

Divs are block elements and anchors are inline elements.

The anchor description should either be without a tag (Home will show over the image)

<div id="navigation_main">
   <a href="Index.html">Home</a>

or you can give the anchor a class or id (Home will show over the image)

<div id="navigation_main">
   <a href="Index.html" id="home_current">Home</a>

or use a style to move the description off-screen by using margin-left or text-indent for the id or class for the anchor. You should have a description to help people using screen readers who won't see the image that says Home.

Be careful about upper/lower case differences in links, Index.html is not the same as index.html so make sure the filename is the same case as the link code.
