I am going to start my doing Web Development as a business, but not sure how the process goes from inital contact to handover. Is there any websites that can guide me or what do you do.

Make sure you supply a quotation that is detailed enough to avoid any misunderstandings. Websites, in theory, can be infinite in size - so just ensure the size of the job you have quoted on is agreed. And make sure the client is aware that once the site is live the job is complete, otherwise you could be making endless changes to it. Good luck.

Write some terms and conditions that you provide with the quote, make sure you define when you will be paid. We always take 50% up front with the balance on demand when we have completed our part. If they don't pay we take the website down until they pay but we have never had anyone not pay - probably because we set out very clearly what the terms are.
