November 28, 200916 yr Hi Guys On my forum I have a Link Checking Script. Basically what it does it, it goes through all posts and checks whether the RapidShare links posted are alive or not. If they are alive, it adds a little footnote, if not it reports the post as dead links found. The problem is .. even though the script has run .. I still find posts with dead links that have not been reported. The code script is fine .. but what can be the cause of this problem ? Are there things on my server that can be limiting this ? I would greatly appreciate any help ? Thank you.

November 28, 200916 yr Without seeing the code, knowing what server you are running this is a very obscure question. Ultimately you should know your server (might be a wrong assumption) and if you do you write your code to work on the server. So this is why i said the code is not right because it's not suited to it's environment. So it could be that. If you post your code maybe i can try to help more.
November 28, 200916 yr Author Here is the Server Info taken from DirectAdmin. Will Post Code soon. Thanks agrc
November 28, 200916 yr Author agrc I increased the Execution Time in php.ini (from 30 to 60 seconds) and now I'm getting 1570 reports, where as before I only had 109 reports. The problem is that still was not enough and I still see dead links that were not reported. Would you say that is a confirmation that the code is the issue here and not the server ? Thanks agrc
November 28, 200916 yr The image you posted has no relevency here at all buddy. Well the fact you are running Apache and services are running are about the only clues. Apart from that, nothing can be determined. Like are certain PHP functions being disallowed or wait you could be using Ruby, ASP, Python w.e. Also guessing what's going on with the code is pretty difficult too mate. Cant help you on this yet.
November 28, 200916 yr I'm assuming you're using php for this. I wouldn't recommend it but you could set it so that the script has no execution limit by adding this to the script at the top set_time_limit(0); try changing your time limit to 10 mins instead set_time_limit(6000); Really speaking you should be doing this in stages and get a cron job running to do X amount every X minutes to make sure you aren't screwing with the server. A script that is taking this long to do is not really efficient either. Posting the code would be ideal since it would allow to at least see where you could improve and streamline the script as much as possible Jay
November 28, 200916 yr Author Hi Guys Yes you are right it is PHP. I feel so dumb between you Pros lol OK I will try posting the code for the Script when I get home. Jay that idea sounds really cool (a solution I think) .. the idea about cron jobs doing X amounts Every X minutes. I love this idea. Thank You .. will post code soon. Thanks
