Hi Guys

 

I have a forum running IP Board 3.0.4.

 

I want to backup its MySQL Database, and I want to do through MySQL commands from within PhpMyAdmin and NOT the Export feature.

 

I know I would need two things in order to to this.

 

1) Database username

2) Actual database name

 

I have the actual database name, but I not sure how I can find out the database username. Can I look through any files in my IPB to see that Username for the database.

 

Finally what command do I type in once I got the above details in order to have a 100% backup of my forum database.

 

I would GREATLY appreciate any help with this.

I always use the export feature in PHPmyadmin and have never experienced any problems. I can't imagine needing to use any other method.

that for some reason has never ever worked for me !

 

When I click the Go button, It just says waiting in the status bar for hours !

 

And the Database is only 130 MB !! Not Much !!

 

I have no idea why it does not work .. but it does not

what selections do you make prior to "go"?

I leave all the default options ticked.

 

So where do I go from here ? any help ?

An alternative to exporting the database is to backup the entire domain. I have Plesk control panel and the backup tool backs up the entire site including database and webmail and all settings.

 

The only other alternative I have come accross, other than exporting each table, is to use mysqldump assuming that your hosting company will provide the correct access. Here is a link:
