What should be the optimum loading time of a webpage

Featured Replies

Hello friends,

I want to discuss this topic with you guys what should be the optimum time a page should load in a specific modem so that we can say the size of the page is ok?

It seems to be very cautious, probably allowing for people still on dial-up connections.

It's best to make the first page that a person sees short and quick to load with few images, but if other pages have lots of images like a photo gallery a viewer will expect the page to take longer to load.

I'd say you should be able to start reading a pages content within 5 seconds of your mouse click. Anything longer and you start to lose patience. It's ok for non content information, such as background images, to continue loading because they're not essential for someone to use the site.
