Which WYSIWYG Editor?

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone

Just a quick post to see which WYSIWYG editor you guys would recommend for a CMS. I've used a few in the past including TinyMCE and more recently CKEditor - the second of which I'm using in a current project. It does everything I need it to and I've had no problems with it at all, but just wanted some more suggestions :) Pro's and con's of any suggested editors would be brilliant.

Hi

I like CKEditor. But I just wanted to share this Comparison of Drupal WYSIWYG Editors. I don't know if it may be of any help. It is related to drupal but I believe most of the editors can be used with any CMS. Besides it gives a comparison of the ones that output valid HTML.

By the way, the FCKeditor that they mention is the previous version of CKEditor.

I'm still embedding FCKeditor to my projects, just have tested whizzywig it looks very simple, but at least it should has file upload module to work. Actually FCKeditor satisfies me and my customers.

We use FCKEditor and TinyMice for our projects.

But mainly we use FCKEditor in the admin side , where lot of options are required and also due to it is slow in loading . A good one for content management projects.

We also use tinymce for our backend actions.

We like tinymce because it is easier to modify , we modify and make it light for eg as a comment editor with a few options ( like bold , underline , alignment etc ) , tinymce is widely used for client sections , as it is easier to load and also has the major options of FCK.

So we both use both ,depends on client connectivity ..

Thanks

I personally don't use the WYSIWYG part of Dreamweaver to work with a CMS but I use that and Notepad ++ to edit the code.

Oh you mean once you have a CMS installed you use these to help edit content in a CMS. correct? 8)

Seth :Ben is asking which WYSIWG editor would be the best for a CMS , he must be planning to develop a CMS for his own/clients ..

We use FCK and TinyMce and as noted TinyMce mostly for client side actions.

Thanks

I found that CKeditor just didn’t have some of the features that FCKeditor did, like the image upload/manager. Looks like that’s now integrated..

Exactly that. As I said, I'm currently working on a project, and although I'm happy with CKEditor I wanted to see what else was on the market. Thanks for all your suggestions.
