I'm looking for some software (ideally to run on my own server with PHP & MySQL - but open to alternatives!) to manage my clients, billing and projects. Have looked at a few and just wanted to see what other people are using! Am starting to get a fair number of clients so would be good to get organised properly before everything gets too out of hand!

Have you tried Highrise?

 

I've started using it and I love it. There's a free version that will let you add upto 250 clients.

Hi, are there any Web apps that help you manage clients and client relationships, let you do project management, and billing and scheduling, and are affordable and easy to use? I've never used highrise, so I can't comment on it. But are there any other options besides it available that would better fit my criteria?

Years ago I used to use a heavily customised version of dotproject but ditched it in favour of Drupal's Storm module. If you're already familiar with customising Drupal it's a great solution. If not, there's quite a bit to learn but the end product is very easy to use, can be hosted on your own server, can leverage Drupal and its modules, and is free.

 

Most of the online project management tools, basecamp, zoho projects, projectmanager etc are intended for collaboration between many users and so they have a big scope which is reflected in the price. If you're a freelancer working solo I found freelancerKit that seems to fit the bill. It costs $117 and $50 extra for a 'white label' unbranded version.

my understanding is that base camp and zooho aren't fully integrated applications, and require you to purchase multiple apps per month. Is there a solution that integrates billing, project management, and CRM into one affordable solution?

I see in your portfolio you did a website for sweet events - I know them and offered to do their website but they declined because I was such a noob to web design

Collabtive is a great program and completely open source.

 

Fairly stylish, works very much like BaseCamp and can be installed on any PHP server.

does anybody have any suggestions for any affordable web apps that do project managment, CRM, and billing?

Im also looking for some sort of project management but only small scale since im a freelancer, ive checked out freelancer kit and i really like it, looks easy to use etc im just wondering is there anything else out there though ?

 

I also came accross something called ubidesk www.ubidesk.com which has a nice system, i really like how this works just it seems more focused towards teams so wouldnt really do what us freelancers need.
