hi guys!

 

i'm about to setup my website, but having problems with my server. i just want a temp image to be displayed when entering my domain name, but i don't know how to put that image so that it'll be displayed when you enter my domain. for instance, my image is called index.html, then you have to go to www.mydomain.com/index.html to see it... how do i get that image to be on www.mydomain.com?

In the Control Panel of your hosting there will probably be a facility to upload files

 

or

 

you'll need an FTP Client e.g. Filezilla, which once you've made your connection, you will be able to drag & drop files from your computer to your webspace

Thanks, but I have uploaded the file to my ftp, the only thing is that it won't be shown unless i enter my domain name + the file name, e.g www.mydomain.com/index.html, what I want is the file to be displayed whenever I go into www.mydomain.com

Have you actually created a Html file or have you just named an image(jpg) file as index.html?

 

If you've uploaded a file can you give us a link so we can see what you've done?

make a .htaccess file with this in it :

 

directoryIndex index.html
