Been a while coming.

 

The urgency to get it finished was bumped up as we've gone down to 3 days a week at the agency I work for :[

 

So i'm looking for some freelance work. If anyone has too much on and feels like passing some work my way I'd really appreciate it.

 

Obviously, any feedback is more than welcome.

I agree, the island looks awesome. I can't make my mind up on the text color. At first glance, it seems there isn't enough contrast between that and the background but when I think about it, I think changing it would ruin the "softness" of the design a little.

Absolutely brilliant and unique work.

I've looked at this site 3 or 4 times today trying to make my mind up. Yes, it is certainly different so full marks for that, but something was really bothering me about it. It wasn't until I was cooking that I realised that the island looks like the top of a cabbage. I really don't like the background image. I think you'd do better to create some form of grunge type background and that will fit in more with your style. IMO the image, logo and typography don't sit together.

 

A portfolio site is supposed to show off your work primarily but when I check out your work I get a tiny view of it and can't see the work properly. The stuff about you is bigger which is a big no no. Your work is the important part - not you. You have text tucked behind the island too, which is poor and annoying. Bye bye perspective client.

 

You clearly have skills, but have not executed them at all well to create a portfolio site that works for you.

I appreciate your feedback. I actually think the previews of the work are of a reasonable size for the user to determine what they would like to click on. I was going to do 'inner pages' but I just don't have the time at the moment.

 

I don't think too many people will mistake the island for the top of a cabbage but I will stand corrected if they do :]

oops - didn't realise it scolled down further - forget my comment about text behind the island. I think I meant lettuce too.

The design stands out but lacks refinement.

 

I found the text difficult to read due to contrast, and the portfolio page includes tab like headers (example "client -hawke & hunter project -website") which confused me initially as they are only headers.

 

Your portfolio features lots of nice work, but the design lacks some of the refinement seen in your other work. It can be tricky producing portfolio sites, I personally find that I'm my worst client with internal work as I miss the client contribution.

 

Good luck with your search for freelance work, I'm sure you'll be fine as your client examples look great.

first website ive seen in a white that i truly love. Great layout, good use of transparent images and works perfectly on all resolutions. only thing i can suggest is changing the title tags for SEO purposes but design wise spot on. 10/10!

I have done very basic SEO on the site. Just some quick work for the launch.

 

It's best viewed at 1920 x 1200, but anything down to 1024x768 and it'll be fine.

It should present ok in any browser other than IE6.

It's also not particularly iphone friendly.

I think it looks great!

 

Never really liked fixed backgrounds tho...

 

They seem to be a bit laggy.

Had to look at this again to try to work out what I was missing as most seem to think it's the bees knees. There was a moment as it loaded that the island and sky image wasn't present and the site had a white background - looked so much better IMO

I like the idea, but that island + ocean are taking up too much of my vertical space! I feel like I'm on 1024* again!

not sure what you mean about the fixed elements being laggy.

 

I did have the island taking up a wee bit more of the space on the page but I pulled it down. I think it's one of those marmite elements that will obviously divide opinion.
