open source photo website

Featured Replies

Hi... one of my hobies is a photography and i have a range of photos. Some photos i have had published in newspapers and used by friends of mine for website and in adverts etc.

what im thinking of doing is putting my photos online in a photo gallery type site where people can view and download my images. Id like my images to be chargable abd payable through paypal. Also ill do some free royality free images etc also.

id also like the site to add a watermark auto aswell.

Anyone know of a piece of software / code thats opensource??? im used to zencart but would take hours to list each pic 1 by 1.

clikpic.com offer a ready made yet customisable photo website - ok it costs arounf £35pa but that is very good value for what you get.

you only get 100 photos for that and it doesn't allow for auto download after sale of photo. its £177 for 2000 photos!

It doesn't seem to be a simple task to ask this.... there plenty of stock image site so the software is out there... just need to find an opensource one.

zencart can do it but id have to add each image one by one so would take hours but thats one free way. Maybe with the easy populate it might be faster but im not sure if it adds the image as downloadable.

Sorry I didn't read your post in its entirety.

Yes there are many sites that do this already but don't assume this means there are any open source ones. They have probably paid tens of thousands to get theirs built and customised.

Hi have you thought of using istock or a photo site thats allready made they may take a percentage but its probley cheaper than hosting your own site and also has added bonus of having millions of users in site traffic...

U could have a simple site with a few images and then a link to your account on the photo sites you use.

Other than this u might be able to set one up using wordpress and a few plugins .. But this will mean a little searching and teething problems and manuly doing whats needed to set up each image..
