July 22, 200917 yr As my first post to this forum (excluding the introduction ) I wanted to share a recent development within the UK domain industry. I received notification from my current registrar (Telivo) that it will be merging with its larger sister company LCN this weekend. All-in-all I think this is a good thing. The registration system at Telivo was at sometimes frustrating as it only allowed two year registrations on all tlds. The prices are the same on LCN as Telivo for the two year regs, but now I can actually extend, reg/renew for multiple years and save a few pence by doing so. The main advantage to be honest is that I can actually extend domains for a long period of time and not worry about forgetting to renew (which happened once before and was a pain). Other functionality seems to be the chance to transfer in GTLDs very cheaply with LCN... which I couldn't do with Telivo. I think its going to be a good thing. Anyone else in this forum with LCN who can share their experiences? Or any Telivo customers have strong thoughts on this merger. Oh... by the way... hello
July 28, 200917 yr Hi I have a couple of domain names with LCN but gradually transferred them away as their customer support was very slow to respond. I switched them to Telivo and although never had to use the customer support found everything worked well. Imagine my dissapointment when I saw Telivo merging with LCN on the 26th July, and straight away problems! Web forwarding not working, I emailed support at LCN and received a reply (straight away to be fair) saying a few problems with the switch and forwarding being one of them but would be fixed the next day. 48 hours later still not working properly, and no reply to a second email sent to support, nothings changed it seems, I would not recommend LCN Ian
February 5, 201016 yr Yes we have the same issues with LCN we have around 40 domain names with them. When it was Telivo we could change glue records and the changes would be made by the system. Now it looks like you input them and they get submitted manually and you have to wait and it just says 'Setting up' and stays like that. In the end we have to call up (3 times after our submitted ticket remained un-responded) to get anything done. One of our customers required another nameserver so we created one and it took over 2 weeks for them to do it and in turn made us look incompetent. The nameserver is setup now but when I login it still say's 'Setting up' nice! I asked them about the functionality of the website and they said that was something that was on its way but was not sure when. Surley if they have took over LCN then they have the work already done for this function? Anyway we are no longer registering domain names with them and I would not recommending doing so until the above function is implemented! Rant over! Rick
February 5, 201016 yr Hi I had forgotten about this thread until your post lol Strangely well timed though I got locked out of my telivo account login yesterday (my own stupidity I agree) but on requesting a new password it doesn't accept the one it generates for me. Email sent to support 24 hours later still waiting for a reply Nothing has changed, they are still cra* ****** Edit *********** Over 30 hours now, and so far just one email back from them asking me to confirm some personal details Can't wait until they all need renewing so I can move them to a decent registrar with proper support
