Would welcome reviews

Hello all,

I'd really welcome some reviews of the following:

http://makingimages.co.uk/web/

The site is not complete, the company name will change and the copy needs refining but the gist of the design is there. The colour scheme was inspired by something that I think I saw on theme forest but can't track down now.

The idea is to be a little funky, modern, clean. I've been looking at it too long now to make any kind of judgment that I can trust.

I think it looks very nice.

Apart from the big yellow block on the bottom of the home page looks like a bit of an afterthought - could you add a subtle gradient in a similar to way to what is on the blue, just to make it a bit less flat?

cinnamondm, you're right, it looks flat. That's some great advice so thanks for that. I'll try a gradient to see if that helps.

On the subject of "No portfolio!", which in itself is good advice in an interesting package, I am aware of that fact and that needs to be solved as part of the slow launch process as does the population of the blog when the business goes live in stages and the population of the twitter feed. All the sites I have built have been done so in a non-professional capacity, not even standards checked and I don't want to revisit them. My networking strategy has paid off in terms of business relationships so the portfolio will come.

Right now it is the design I am predominantly interested in. The company name is a different matter and that in itself continues to be a trial. Everything I think of seems to be taken up by a web design company :)

I know what you mean - I spent weeks going through that, eventually coming up with something that was free and then hating it a few hours later!

Its got he makings of a nice site, the yellow block looks like it has swapped places with the grey block above it, the grey block looks more like a large footer, to be honest I think you could do without the grey and yellow blocks all together, if you got the typography right I dont think you would need them.

The header "Midesigns" could do with being a touch brighter and the lettering a little crisper, but apart from that design wise I think its definatly getting there.

i really like the theme your working with here its really nice, again the first thing i noticed was the big yellow block seems really out of place and a bit big for a footer in my opinion. I would like to see it without the yellow background and just the type in a suttle white colour?

good work and good luck :)

I really like it great job!!

However like MolotovRuss says, I cannot see any examples of your work? Portfolio section?

Guys,

You've all been very helpful and it's very much appreciated. Looks like the whole footer issue needs a good rethink.
