I'm making an ajax widg, for it I want to be able to determine the current css background image via js, is this posible,

 

I would have thaugh the code would be somthing along the lines of;

 

if(document.getElementById('box'+item_id).offsetBackgroundImage=='.....')
{

}

 

although it seems offset does not have the background image?

 

is there another method or will i have to base my syntax around another variable?

You should be able to use the style object.

if (document.getElementById('element').style.backgroundImage=='.....')

this would work if the background image was defined "inline" however it's defined in an external style syheet (why I was trying to use the offset).

 

I've used another variable to achieve what I wanted but if anyone knows how to do the above it would be good for future ref but I don't belive the offset does support background-images (was origionaly intended for height, width, left...?)
