February 2, 200917 yr Hi, I own a rehearsal / recording studio and am looking to start managing my bookings online (i currently keep a paper diary at the studio). I don't want this to be accessable by the general public, just needed for staff to take telephone bookings and check availability whilst away from the studio.Would like to get rid of the paper diary for good! Could anyone give me any advice/help on what would be the best way of doing this? Any help woul be appreciated. Thanks for reading Mat
February 2, 200917 yr I would recomend you use PHP and MYSQL. Are you looking to learn how to do this yourself? Or are you looking to hire somebody to do this for you?
February 2, 200917 yr Author would be looking for somebody to do this for me if it wasn't too costly. Are there any off the shelf solutions for this? It will be very basic, just need bookings for 3 rooms and be able to input what they need to hire with their booking ie. guitar amp, drum kit etc Thanks Mat
February 2, 200917 yr There are off the shelf options available but without trying them all you won't know which is best for you. http://www.hotscripts.com is my personal favorite for scripts there are a load of ready made solutions on that site but I wouldn't be able to recommend any unfortunately. I have never used any of what you are looking for. I don't think it would be too costly to get somebody to do it, something like that could be knocked up in a few hours. There are plenty of coders in here that would be happy to give you a quote or give you advice on a ready made solution. I would be happy to do it for you but I am rather busy at the moment with university work.
February 3, 200917 yr Author Thanks for your help Borellus, much appreciated. Is there anyone out there who have had any experience with such scripts or off the shelf software? Thanks Mat
February 3, 200917 yr Hi there stompbox I've done some work to skin a software package called Goliath before - its a reservation system which gives you a full online diary thats flexible, and also can link in other prebookeable extras into the time. Its mainly used in the experiences industry, but could do the trick - you can use it just as internal booking system, or if you start to feel braver you can open it up to the public too. as it would take payments for the time booked online aswell. Just a suggestion - might be a bit too complex for what you need - but its something to look at anyway www.goliathreservationsystems.com
February 3, 200917 yr Hi there Do you host a website for your business and does it have the ability to host asp? if so Im pretty sure I could build this for you and allow you to access it though your own web portal, if that makes sense. What would really help would be a project outline of what you want the system to be able to do. I would then build it for you and if you are happy with it then you can buy it, otherwise no hard feelings. I am currently looking for my next project to get my teeth into. The reason I ask if you have your own asp hosting facility is because if you don’t, then you might want me to build you a website as well. Also asp hosting cost money so it gives me a better idea of what I would have to do. Let me know if you are interested. Daniel
