January 21, 200917 yr hi there. Thank You for a brilliant forum. As you can see its my first post, so please accept my apologies if i don't make sense. Ok I'm trying to setup a website. I am using an open source template and i have altered it to my specification. Now there are a couple of issues which i'm sure that an expert can fix them in no time, but for me its been giving me a headache for a few days. 1. I've altered the menu and added my own wording. But for some reason its gone out of alignment and i've tried everything, but can seem to bring it back to the correct alignment. 2. I am looking for free to use photos/cliparts of pc repairs or any good pc pictures for my website, but have had any luck. 3. Even though the template has a contact form, I have been told that I need some coding called PHP, so could anyone help here? NOTE: I actually need someone to physically fix it and would be most grateful if some kind soul could spare a few mins??? Thank You
January 21, 200917 yr Hi Webhelp, welcome to the forum '1. I've altered the menu and added my own wording. But for some reason its gone out of alignment and i've tried everything, but can seem to bring it back to the correct alignment.' This is more then likely a CSS issue, but i would need to have a look at your files for that. ‘2. I am looking for free to use photos/cliparts of pc repairs or any good pc pictures for my website, but have had any luck.’ For all of my pictures i use www.dreamstime.com, they are not free but they are really cheap. picture cost about 1 credit each which is about a pound. other then that you need to search for 'Royalty Free images' and there is normally quite a bit available. ‘3. Even though the template has a contact form, I have been told that I need some coding called PHP, so could anyone help here?’ For this you need to make sure the hosting company that will be holding you website has the ability the host php first which it probably will. The coding is quite strait forward and there is loads on the web about it. just search 'php contact form script'. alternatively if I can get hold of your files i might be able to put one in for you. January 21, 200917 yr I recommend posting the code and as for a php form if you have 10 mins read through this tutorial you can basically copy and paste the code after and your form will work.
January 21, 200917 yr Author Well thanks so much guys for all your advice and help!!! The hosting company does have the ability to host php. Below is the link to my site...its still being setup and the SUBMENU ALIGNMENT problem i mentioned is in the SERVICES PAGE. Regarding posting the codes, i don't know how to do this, but what i can do is eithier add you to my msn friends list and send u all the files or i could post them on here? let me know. Once again to show my appreciation, thank you very much! webhelp LINK TO SITE:- http://ispyonu.equiphase.net/
January 21, 200917 yr Hi Your submenu problem is a mixture of your main menu and submenu. The image used by the main menu is also used by the submenu, the submenu has been positioned into the grey section of the main menu image. To fix your problem I would create a new div containing only the grey section of the main menu image and position your new links accordingly using css. If you are new to CSS this could get tricky. January 21, 200917 yr Author thank you very much pat. Unfortunately, I don't have a clue how to do the css thing and this is why i was asking for help. Even though i'm not supposed to mention this, the reason i'm so desperate is because the Disabilities Department from the government & business link have said to me that i can try and make a go of running a business which involves fixing pc's etc. I want to do something that allows me to give back to the taxpayer. Website coding unfortunately is not my cup of tea, otherwise i would have done it by now. If someone could help me create this DIV section, then that would be most appreciated. thank you
January 21, 200917 yr Hello again, There is actually nothing wrong with the alignment, the problem is that the amount of links that you are trying to squeeze in, is too much for the space available and it is moving onto the next line down. To be honest I could try and explain all of you solutions on here but it sounds like you just need it to be up and running and it might be a while before you do any web design again lol. Zip up the whole folder that your website is in including any pictures and so on and send to danielhegarty@gmail.com, and I will have a look at it tomorrow. It only takes 10 mins when you know what you are looking for. however if you would rather have it explained, let me know. Ragards Daniel
