Is there a Doctor in the house?

Featured Replies

Right, I am going to the Doctors in the morning but I thought I'd receive some sort of amateur diagnoses here!

I have had pins and needles in both feet for 2 days now and it hurts the bridge of my feet when I walk. There is no swelling, no rash and no colour change.

Let's play Dr. House!

This sounds incredibly stupid... but do you think it could be related to the kilo of salted peanuts I consumed over 3 days? If so, how threatening could it be?

I'd like to answer you but unfortunately I am not a doctor...

It's not stupid, your feet, hands and tip of your nose are the furthest away from your body and as a result get the least blood pumped their during certain situations, hence the reason for frostbite etc.

Luckily it's just my feet at the moment. I spoke to a friend and he gave me an extremely appealing cure... I don't want to go into detail but it involves a shooting sensation through my nerves, some hand moisturiser and a dirty video.

I'm going to ask the Doctor what he thinks lol

Are your feet cold to the touch? aaaaand do you regularly get cramp?

Tell me more of this cure  *innocence shines through*

Salt increases blood pressure which will probably play whammy with your circulation, if anything I'd say it's hyper circulation rather than poor circulation.

I don't get cramp but my feet kind of lose feeling in a hot bath.

I think that's normal.

I constantly get cramps, some that result in me limping for a day or two, and my feet are always icy cold (which means i have to sleep with socks ):

The doctor said it was poor circulation caused by something or other.

I've got a tablet for the cramps, as wells as zinc supplements and a whole draw full of bits and bobs that don't seem to have any effect.

Long story cut short, If the doctor says it's poor circulation, demand the truth.

High blood pressure if its tingling, instead of cramps... lack of oxygen causes cramps... Salt raises your blood pressure, so I'd say its a good guess.

I see your £10, and i raise you £5.

I'll give our 100/1 that he grows an additional limb, and 1000/1 if he calls it frosty.

*feels bad for joking on a thread about someone's health* << he made me crave peanuts though, and cashews *creams*

Hell, why not?

I'll bet you £50 that I lose a foot. If I don't? Wahey, I keep my feet! If I do? At least I make something out of it.

Seriously, thanks for the tips guys, shouldn't be anything too serious. Wish me luck.

Lack of oxygen doesn't actually cause crap, a rise in lactic acid causes cramp, sorry to correct you, but you know :pp what if you're on who wants to be a millionaire and get it wrong?

whats your weight? whats your diet like? how much exercise do you get? how old are you?

also, do you have a history of getting pins in needles and under what curcumstances normally?

are they still there? (i heard that if they get chopped off you can still feel them but they feel tingly.. ew)

This has just made me think, if anyway od us lost our foot we could still work and do what we love.... hmm I'm thinking eBay

Sometimes back problems can cause leg and foot pain / altered sensation.

Don't cross your legs! Good sitting posture is important too ....

Decent fitting shoes?

Let us know what's up ...be interested to see your diagnosis now. All the best :)

As Web Designers we spend a load of time sat on our arses, it is imperative that we take regular breaks and stand up and walk about.

A year ago I suffered from a trapped Sciatic nerve - the pain was awesome! (thats awesomely bad), so bad that I couldnt sit down for any length of time for ages!

As to your problem Shaun it sounds like your circulation is restricted - try wearing sports socks and take off your shoes when sat at the PC for a long period of time.

(btw that is one hellofa lot of Peanuts! ;) )

Ah forgot to mention that! I used to cross my legs all the time - ever since my Sciatic nerve trouble I have un-learnt that very bad habit (it plays havoc with your pelvis and makes you more likely to twist it and so trap nerves).

I weigh 15st, I'm 6'2" and I'm 22 years old. I am 1.5st overweight according to my BMI. I have been on a low-carb diet since June and I've lost 5st so I'm hoping it isn't the diet. I haven't had any problems before and I take vitamins for the nutrition I'm missing in starchy foods. I don't smoke or drink either.

I go to the gym 3 times a week and play badminton (a real man's sport) once a week.

I love peanuts!

This does sound odd but I have recently started wearing thick white socks (I've worn thin black socks for years - not the same pair).

Good ol' GP said it's nothing to worry about and to go back if there is swelling or colouring. Helpful!

The worst joke i've ever seen to do with health issues, was on a thread once that said:

"I'm getting cripiling stomach pains, does anyone know what it could be?!"

Answer:

"CANCER!"

I felt awful for laughing.

It's kind of bad that after reading this thread and about how bad peanuts are for you, I went downstairs and ate a crap load of peanuts.

Peanuts rule! especially peanut butter with strawberry jam sarny!

What about stress levels are you getting enough sleep? Though I must say, eating a Kilo of salted peanuts can't be a good thing! - All that salt!!!

There was an incredible ammount of stress and sleepless nights due to clients not paying over Christmas (therefore I was skint over Christmas and hence me living off of peanuts last week lol). That drive and lack of sleep has however got the company back on track and I look forward to getting back into a normal sleeping pattern.
