client side calculator

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a client who wants a client side calculator on his site. His existing site is at www.cham-van.com, I have a work in progress on his new site at www.cham-van.com/temp and he wants the book online box to show the prices on the fly in almost exactly the way one of his competitors at http://www.geneva-chamonix-transfers.com/ does in the Quick Quote box.

I have no experience at all with client side scripting and dont know where to start. I am guessing that I need to use javascript to do it. If anyone could give me a short breakdown of what i need to go away and learn that would be great.

Cheers

Phil

Yes, javascript seems ok to a client side application, btw you can use VBScript (which only works in IE).

Go around with google and you'll find somethings, a calculator is not such rarely.

If you look at the source code for the competitor's page, you will see that the calculator is PHP based (src='qquote.php')

You will need to find out from your customer, the calculation method they use, so that you can get the variables you need to pass to the calculation etc
