Theme Advice

Hello All,

Following a thread I posted in the reviewing section regarding my website, I've decided to go for it and for a whole new look for my website, just in time to kick off or just before the kick off to the new year!

I've been seeking some inspiration and came across this site 40 Most beautiful websites, and noticed that their designs all fit together as in the images are all sectioned off but positioned into place with CSS.

I'm decided to take on the theme design by going to Adobe Photoshop and creating a template theme to generate the look and layout of the page, and section them all off with the slice tool. To ensure that my layout suits all screens and res. what would be a good document size to set my layout as?

  • 640x480

  • 800x600

  • 1024x768

  • 1280x1024

  • 1600x1200

Personally, i think the last two will be much too large, maybe something between the second and third bullets.

What do you all think? :sorry:

I'm no expert but I'd go for the middle one....

I think most designers tend to design for 1024x768 resolutions since it's the most common. Some may say otherwise though.

1024x768 i am told is best.... but half the time i dont listen and tend to go to what my client base would be... for a example a young professional client base would be larger/wider screens :)

Hello All,

I love this forum, the feedback is always guaranteed :santa_afro: , if that's the case then I better get started on my template sized at 1024x768

Thank you all again :santa_smiley:

in the old days it was 800x600

but now definitely use 1024x768!

It the most used resolution on the web atm.

regards
