Yeah i am choosing a forum for my clients this year and i was wondering.. what do you think of tha free ones like phpbb... is it as secure that invision board or vbbulletin?

 

if u have sources to articles i'd appreciate too

InvisionFree hands down for me. It's the best free forum package out there.

The choice of forum depends on a lot of things...

 

1. One that the client (and their employees) understand how to use and manage - I'm thining the admin/backend here

2. One that suits their needs in terms of user features

3. One that can be modified to suit their needs

4. Developer support if things go tits up

5. Regular updates including security fixes

 

Write down a list of what they need, then look at all the forums scripts to find the one that matches

i think phpbb is best and also there are so many skins and addons for it freely available over internet.
