Your opinion about my new website...

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!! I'm glad you're reading this.

A few days ago I made my personal website available on the Internet.

It's about hip hop music.

I'm writing here because I want to hear your advices and comments.

Please write.

My site is here:

http://www.hiphopisland.com/index.html

Thanks a lot.

I'm not into hiphop myself but he buttons used for the navigation don't look very hiphop-ish. Same with the headers.

I would also say that the text can be quite difficult to read.

It looks like most of the key elements (navigation, headers, text, etc) is made up of images, which means it will perform very poorly with seo.

Coded in Tables.

Designed for the wrong audience.

Internal Style Sheet (CSS).

Unlike the others, Im an avid hiphop fan so I am your target audience and I agree with them

1) Read this: http://cabbagination.net/2008/07/introduction-to-css/ and http://www.acuitydesigns.net/10-tutorials-...-teach-you-css/

- you designed your site using tables... tables are for tabular data, not websites

2)your colour palette is too light and 'fresh'... yo have a metal render bground with a predominantly white site? it doesn't work

3)I feel like you have picked up bits and pieces of free buttons and menus and tried to fit them all together, as you have tech style buttons, with other styles etc

4)All the text on your homepage is pictures... No search engine will find you

5)your logo is very quaint, hiphop is ften about making a bold statement or getting across a strong message - your logo should follow similar suit

6) Your competition are the likes of: http://www.xxlmag.com/ - www.rapmusic.com - www.rapverse.com --- compare, and take notes - to compete to a decent level your going to need to re-design in my opinion.

Thanks for the advices.

I've already made some changes. I hope it's not that bad anymore.

About the link you posted to XXL magazine. Well the site looks great but probably its design is made from a lot of people.

I'm trying to do all that by myself so I've never even imagined such results.

I hope the site is good, I don't mean perfect.

That's my first website project and I hope it will get better and better every day...
