Is it better to buy....

Featured Replies

Is it better to buy your Domain name from a seperate company, such as www.123-reg.co.uk then purchase your hosting.

Or does it not matter?

Is it better to buy your domain and hosting all together in one package?

Thanks In Advance.

I always buy domains with one.com as they set it up for you within 24 hours, have PHP, ASP etc everything compatible, unlimited bandwidth and 3GB package unlimited email addresses for £10.58 for first year, £20 something for second year.

To be honest Im not sure what I will be using, my website folder is around 270MB

Users will not be downloading anything from the website, simply browsing the pages, watching videos etc...

The main part of the site will be the forum.

Is One.com good? 9GBP?

I always buy my domains and hosting separately.

I use 123-reg.co.uk but godaddy.com are also good for domain names.

This way, you can maintain all of your domains on one control panel.

You only need to change the nameservers for the domain to point to the hosting account you buy (any hosting will provide you with these details). Then, if you need to change hosting accounts due to problems, all you need do is change nameservers again, not have the hassle of trying to get some hosting company to transfer the domain. Some hosts can be funny about doing this.

Thanks alot, the answer I was looking for!

I shall do this, now, to find a host!!

I keep the majority of my domains with a couple of registrars and will be moving them over to a single one at some point in order to negotiate better rates :)

I used to use 123reg as they were cheap, but a few problems with renewals (I paid them on time, but they didn't renew) I have now moved to daily.co.uk - seems to be working fine .

Stay away from "too good to be true" cheap hosting. I have just started using csnewmedia.co.uk and find them very good.

I also keep my domains regsitered with a different provider to the hosting. Reduces the single point of failure.

My hosting and domain is with one.com. So far I would recommend them, they set everything up fast and they support all the features I need.

I use 123reg for domains and 34sp for affordable, reliable, uk hosting with excellent customer service :)
