Some constructive criticism needed plz

Featured Replies

Hi all. I'm in the process of redeveloping a site and I am trying to get a suitable design sorted before I continue with the more functional stuff. I'm not an artistic person and have always struggled with the design aspects of creating websites.

I'm looking for constructive criticism on this design, I will take anything on board and do not mind negative comments, after all I'm trying to make the final version as good as possible.

Some quick points:

This is just an example page, not necessarily the homepage of the site.

The picture of the woman on the left will eventually be changed to a video of a woman using sign language.

None of the links are currently active (or indeed have 'a' tags

I know I need to make a few modifications (eg min-height hack) to make the design work in older browsers such as IE 5.5/6

The page currently needs javascript to create the rounded corners. I'm planning to change this eventually once I am happy with the layout.

Thanks in advance.

It's not really a bad website, it just seems to lack that 'wow' factor at the moment. There's lots of white space and although i realise you're going for the black and white look because of the Zebra branding, I still feel there could be more to the actual design to make it stand out some more.

I'm afraid I have a mental block right now so I'm finding it hard to suggest anything you could do or change to make an improvement so I guess we'll have to see if any other members can give their creative thoughts.

Great start, now jazz it up with some graphics and color, also the code is nice, congrats it's passing validation. This is the first site I've seen in a while on this forum that passes validation. Congrats!!
