Something quick - I really don't like the scrolling box. It isn't contained within the browser window properly, I can only see about 2/3 of the width of the actual scrollbar it's self and part of the bottom button is cut off.

 

It looks like I can't see all of the site. I really don't like this way of doing it.

 

Better to use the normal browser scroller and just have the header stay in place

Red & Black!!!!!

 

You have chosen imo... the hardest 2-color palette for a website design...It ineveitably makes things feel very dark, grungy and 'alternative'.. Furthermore, black text on vivd red is 1) hard on the eyes and 2) not easy to read. Also, I do not really associate these colors with 'dance' of any form, have a look around at competitor websites etc - a quick google of 'north london dance school' and the main websites seem to be favouring a blue/white/grey scheme.

The black text on the red background fails a colour contrast test, so anyone who's colour blind will not be able to read it. Actually I'm not colour blind and I struggle to read it. Suggest you re-think the body text colours.

 

As for the choice of colour scheme overall, I actually think it's a good choice. It gives a good latin or samba feel to it and compliments the image well. Blue/grey/white is a bit bland (IMHO).

 

Your code is nice and tidy also. However one issue is that on a widescreen monitor you're page will stretch all the way across, redesign the text virtually unreadable and producing lost of (red)space. Stick a max-width on it an peg it about 1000px or so.

Thanks for your comments guys - really appreciate them. The whole black on red debate is a good one, I will experiment with some different colours (it chose them because they match the image that I'm using nicely).

 

I'll have a play around and re-post in a couple of days or so.

Ok, done some more work on this tonight. More of a contrast now between the red and the text, I think, and centered the content.
