  1. Thanks very much! I'm definitely going to be asking lots of questions, I've asked a fair few already I'm so excited to start! Also, can I ask what sort of hours people work, both freelance and for agencies, and also when you have to meet clients do you use your own car with business use?
  2. Thanks very much, that's put my mind at ease a little. I was very honest about where I am at now, but I am very willing to learn new things. I'm very excited to start and to improve my designing
  3. Is it usually OK to take in some referencing material like books?
  4. Just wondering what other designer's experiences have been working for web design companies. Would be nice to know what sort of things are involved in a day-to-day job as a designer Also what sort of tasks/jobs you were involved with when you first started. I am starting my first design job soon and am really excited at the prospect, but understandably I think, a bit nervous too
  5. Thanks very much all I've been offered a job at £18k, which I am very happy with, although it is further to commute until we can move.
  6. Any ideas? If not directly related, then what was your starting wage in your first web design job? Just looking for a rough idea really
  7. I've just finished a degree - BA (Hons) Graphic and Web Design - and have my results through, which show I have a 2.1. I don't graduate until November, but am available for work now, so trying to secure a full time job in the web industry. I have just come back from my 2nd out of 3 interviews (not heard back from first yet), and all 3 say salary is negotiable on the advert, but one has said the starting salary would be £18k. This is my question: what starting salary is reasonable for a new graduate with both web and graphic design knowledge? I was hoping for £20k ideally, especially with commuting. I am willing to relocate to a certain extent but slightly constrained with area because of my OH's job.
  8. I've got it looking like this now, but still not right. Please please can someone help
  9. Thank you, although it doesn't really work. I think it's a problem with the code that I posted that means it doesn't start on a new line, it gets bunched up If I mess about adding extra closed <div>s I get the below screenshot. Thanks very much
  10. Sorry, it's really distorting the page but I can't find an edit button
  11. I wondered if anyone has a spare few minutes to take a look at this screenshot and tell me what I've done wrong I want all the buttons to be on the right hand side, the graphic on the left hand side and the content is in the middle. I think it's something to do with the <div> tag or padding or something equally simple, but it's driving me nuts. It seems to be overlapping rather than starting a new line. I've attached the screenshot. Can easily supply more info. Please could someone help a distressed female?
