  1. Thank you for the warm welcome.
  2. The website of an yearly gaming convention I help organise, which currently runs on Xoops, is probably going to be modified by me, so and I'm looking for a suitable system to manage its content. Here are some features I'm looking for: It must have a very simple (the people who are going to make the content don't know and don't want to know what HTML is) but reasonably resouceful text editing interface for posts and general writing; It is not a blog and shouldn't look like a blog; The main propose of the site is to inform users about the convention and instigate them to attend. I'm not looking for a portal; That said, it would be interesting to have support to a forum software like phpBB; Additionally, the easier it is to make some tweaks, the better. I'll probably want to make a theme of my own. I'm also going to need support for a system that people are going to use to register their games. Besides being able to store the information they send, that system should also display that information on the website for other users to see (in case they want to join the games). My first idea was Wordpress, but I'd like to hear other opinions.
  3. Hello! My name is Arthur, and I'm a 16 years old student from Brazil. I've been living in Europe (between Rome, Italy and Southampton, UK) since last February, but I'm going back in two weeks. I'm an enthusiast of programming in general, and I'm particularly passionate about developing for the web. I have basic Photoshop skills and write pages in XHTML/CSS, besides writing simple stuff in PHP. I'm very interested in developing these abilities, and I intend to study Computer Science (or Computer Engineering) in university. I've done a couple (well, three, actually, but one isn't online anymore) of paid jobs for friends in the past, but nothing too serious. Currently, I'm not a member of any online community dedicated to web design, so I decided to join one, and my brief reading of some of the threads here led me to believe that you are a helpful and nice bunch. I look forward to sharing knowledge and opinions with you.
