Image Gallery
Hi, I'm trying to set-up an image gallery that I want to have centred on my page. What is the best/easiest way to do this using CSS? I thought of wrapping the images (here I'm uing just 3 to test but the final will probably be more, smaller thumbnails) in a div roughly the same width as all the images, which could then be centred. Not sure about coding or if this is the right way to be doing it! Can anyone give me some pointers? Many thanks, db (screen grab showing current layout. Here I've set the 'image_wrapper' div to the same width as the 'wrapper' div & colourded it grey so it's visible).

Free web hosting
I want to get some web space to host some audio samples of music I'm selling on e-bid & e-bay. Each sample will be short & low quality to keep the size of each file below 500kb. I could have as many as 3-400 records up for sale but my concern is with available bandwidth. I contacted one free host (Heart) who advised me that a dedicated server might be required as ven their paying accounts might not have enough bandwidth for my needs! Erm. Not really the advice I wanted to hear. Can anyone please offer some more advise to my problem? Cheers in advance.

Tranparent image files
I've created a logo in Photoshop with a tranparent background & saved it as a PNG-24. When added to my web page with a tiled background the image displays with a transparent background okay ..... but only in Firefox browser! When viewed in IE my logo has a light blue background. Anyone know why? Cheers

Confusion!
Got my copy of 'CSS the missing manual' in the post. Looks to be a very good book. Very well written & laid out.

Confusion!
This book sounds good from the reviews; http://www.amazon.co.uk/Build-Your-Website-Right-Using/dp/0980455278/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1250346938&sr=8-5

Confusion!
It was with Havering College (Ardleigh Green). The course (20 weeks, 1 evening a week) only cost £200. But we did no HTML at all & the tutor said he didn't use CSS. He was a designer 1st & foremost & a programmer second. That's what he told us. I thought that was a good thing at the time because the idea of learning code put me off somewhat. But if I need to do it to achieve results then I'm up for it. I've already ordered the CSS Missing manual to get started. I'll buy a HTML book as well I think. Anyone recommend any good beginner to intermediate books that are worth getting hold of?

Confusion!
Ordered 'CSS - The Missing Manual'. BTW, There is a new edition of this due out in September.

Confusion!
Cool. thanks for everyone's input. Almost completely goes against what I've read in the recent issue of Web Designer magazine with the feature on 'Photoshop for the net' & also a book ('Photoshop CS for the web') I've just bought but I guess that's the nature of the beast. There's obviosuly many ways to skin this cat!

Confusion!
Cheers, Mr_YE. I'll check out those books. I've already seen & read very good things about 'CSS - The Missing Manual'. I Think I'll definitely get hold of that one. So, Photoshop for producing graphically rich content. HTML & CSS to put it all together to build a site. That's how I should be looking at it right?

Confusion!
Okay. But I'm surprised people are against using Dreamweaver (or at least the design view) to build the page. I thought that was Dreamweaver's sole purpose. What are people's take on Photoshop to build web content? Obviously I'm going to use this to create content. But how do you then get this into web layout without using something like Dreamweaver?

Confusion!
There's an article in last months issue of Web Designer magazine regarding 'Photoshop for the net'. Very useful & appealing to a Photoshop user such as myself. However they don't go as far as explaining how to get your sliced Phtotoshop document into a program like Dreamweaver & construct it into a page. I guess thats where the HTML/CSS comes in?
-
Confusion!
So HTML & CSS are the next main thing I should be looking at by the sounds of it. I'm also really interested in using Photoshop to create web page designs & layouts & then importing slices from PS into Dreamweaver to create my page. Since Phooshop is the program I'm most familiar with (still got a lot ot learn though) this idea is the most attractive to me at the moment. I bought a second hand copy of a book called 'Photoshop CS for the Web', which looks like it will have some useful stuff in it. I've also bought a couple of Dreamweaver & Flash books to back up what I have learnt. I've now been looking at CSS books. 'CSS - The missing manual' looks good & it has had some excellent feedback on Amazon. Just need to find a good HTML book now. I'm thinking that using HTML & CSS together could get confusing. Could this be the case? Thaks for everyone's replies & help.

Missing tools in files section
I did eventually figure this out. The problem was that the website had not actually been site managed! Once I did that all the 'missing' tools appeared.

Confusion!
I completed a 20 week part time web desing course recently. I really enjoyed the course & I got a lot from it. But we covered so many different technologies I'm a bit confused now. I think the tutor was a bit behind the times because we were doing stuff with tables more so than divs, even though the tutor had explained that tables were a bit old hat & divs were the way forward. We didn't do much with CSS either but I gather this is a big deal now as well. So what should I be focussing on now? From what I can make it it should be CSS, divs & a little HTML more so than using a lot of HTML, tables, frames etc. All a bit confusing really. If anyone can offer a bit of advice to focus me in the right direction I'd be grateful. BTW I use Photoshop mainly & I'm quite new to Dreamweaver & Flash.

Missing tools in files section
It's this part that has gone AWOL (just the tool bar on the files area);
-
Missing tools in files section
This is what I see in Dreamweaver - tool bar is missing & if I click manage site I get the Configure Server window & not the set-up page with the basic/advanced tabs;

Missing tools in files section
The tool bar (with the get, put etc. controls) under the files section on the right hand pane is missing from the site I'm working on. I created another site & this time the tool bar was displayed. Just wondering why it is not being displayed for the other site I'm working on. Anyone know why this might be happening? Could it be something to do with the way the site has been set-up in Dreamweaver? I currently doing a web design course covering Flash & Dreamweaver. I asked my tutor about this & he said he had never seen this happen before. Doesn't seem right. I'm also having lots of problems with the site I'm working on. Doesn't help I don't have much experiene but the people around me that have more experince working with web sites & Dreamweaver seem a bit perplexed as well! I wont go into detail about the problems I'm having. But I suspect it's got something to do with the way the site has been set-up/manged in Dreamweaver prior to me taking over.
