Logo design
For some time I have been working for a promotional products business and have done many T-shirt jobs during that time. Yes vector artwork is preferred however I have provided a bitmap image to use as artwork as long as the image is sharp (300 dpi or better) and not too complex. Graduated fills can be used and are usually silk screened at 96 dpi. I have even used 1/2 tone screens that go from 1 colour to another creating a nice blending effect. The Pantone Matching System (PMS) colour scheme is commonly used in silk screening. 4 colour process is very expensive! Also when using screens keep in mind the colour of the shirt as it will show through the 1/2 tone dots. Unless the shirt is white or light coloured, a solid base background is applied called an underlay and in white ink. This is sometimes applied even without 1/2 tones to improve the saturation of the other colours applied. Once the vector art is created, colour seperations with registration marks are required so the printer can be sure each colouris aligned with the others. I personally use the underdog program called CorelDraw but both Corel and Illustrator have a trace function that can provide a vector outline from a bitmap image. They don't do a perfect job so tweaking the resulting vector trace to clean up the edges and eliminate imperfections is always required. The elements of the design mustbe separated to perform the colour separations. If you send me a sample of your design I can advise you further or even do a re-draw of the artwork to vector if you wish. I currently am freelance and would be willing to provide finished vector artwork with separations for a reasonable fee. You can email me at rtisticguy@gmail.com

Greetings from Canada
Look forward to being a member of the web designer forum and benefiting from it's talented members. Am a multi-talented Canadian guy with a career in traditional photography and graphic design. Have been freelancing for some time, currently on contract with a small promotional products business. Am self taught at web design so have much learning to do. I will be posting my own freelance business website address for any advice on a re-design that people can offer. Also enjoy challenges like computer repair and construction. If anyone has a tough computer problem don't hesitate to ask me. Love camping and the outdoors, playing the blues on guitar and creating works of art. Will drop in occasionally.
