Hi Jack, Thank you for this info! You mentioned about Javascript, HTML and CSS. Do you mind me asking if Python is also worth checking out? The course I took on Udemy predominately revolved around using Python. What are your thoughts on that? I will have a look at those links you provided. Thank you so much

Hi Guys! I hope everyone is well! I am very new to this sort of thing but wanted to get some advice/guidance from seasoned experts and thought this would be a great place to start. "its dangerous to go alone.." sorry Zelda quote there... basically I need some advice on where to start!! A little background on me. I moved to Bristol a few years ago and have worked in healthcare and office based roles. I am a confident computer user and I have always had a keen interest in web design. I have only ever dabbled in WordPress but that was over 5 years ago now. I am currently on Furlough from my employer. I also live with someone who is considered vulnerable which makes things very tricky at the moment!! The company I work for is at risk of, well, basically collapsing due to COVID and even if things work out, the environment potentially is not going to be safe for me to return to for quite some time. This has all lead me to start exploring my interest in web design and also web development. I have recently completed a beginners course on coding on the site Udemy. The course taught me to build a basic app which was really cool. I am eager to get into website design, possibly app design sometime down the line. The trouble I am having is that there are so many avenues to explore, so so so many courses to do, some are free others are sky high prices - I just do not know which one is the best path to go down. I like the idea of being able to offer freelance web design to small businesses. Where I live there are tonnes of small shops, businesses etc. that I would love to be able to approach and say "hey I could help you build an awesome modern website" except I just don't know what would be best to start with here in the UK. So many paths and choices. Any suggestions would be amazing - thank you!!
