I'm not sure if anyone has helped you, but I made a quick 2 minute video explanation for you. - Just a quick and dirty explanation of responsive design.

    Hi everyone, I'm Tye!
I am a professional hard core javascript developer. I live in Florida, and I hope to learn and improve my design and UX skills from the talent on this forum.  I recently launched my startup and first web development project.

I hope everyone is safe/doing well.

Honestly, it's going to heavily depend on what you're building. Some applications make more sense to model around relational data, and some around documents and collections like a noSQL database. I tend to use PostgreSQL but you will come across developers using everything from MySQL to DynamoDB.
Flarum is Node based forum software, I'm not sure if you have seen that.
