Hi all, I’ve already posted this as my ‘Hello’ thread, but this is probably the better place. Good morning all, Probably something you’ve heard before, but perhaps a twist. I’ve fifteen years experience in a niche engineering field working for both the global market leader in the manufacture of the equipment and materials required to perform the process, and then as Technical Director for a leading applicator of the process. I’ve quit. I’ve two kids and a wife. Barely seen any of them for months. I was starting to write a book (it is rather a secretive industry) when I realised that a) Nobody buys books and b) My market intelligence and process knowledge (and therefore the book) will be out of date in a couple of years. Yesterday I registered a limited company (big whoop I know, £12) but I’m very serious about creating a paid platform for the industry. I intend to offer: For the companies that perform the process; Searchable archives of technical bulletins, process instructions, material selection by environment, process selection, equipment selection. I have a 1T hard drive damn near full of this information - it is not freely available. For those looking to have it performed; A list of all applicators (for Europe I have this information) along with key contacts and the processes they perform (there are a number of different methods). Some form of a feedback system. For those who make the materials and the equipment, provide spares, calibration and service; An advertising platform. There is no platform like this. At the moment when a customer comes across the engineering solution it becomes a phone book exercise to find an applicator. The materials and equipment manufacturers hold all their knowledge tight to their chests, the applicators all pretend it is IP. Nobody talks. There is no forum for industry specific jobs, no central location for technical information and no ‘Trusted Trader’ equivalent for applicators. This is a multi-billion global industry by the way, used on everything from jet planes to oil rigs. Right. If you’ve read this far then bravo. Here’s the pitch; I’m looking for a sweat equity partner who knows one end of a website from another (I don’t). This is a start-up and I need some skills on board that I do not have. 2) No, this is not a paid gig. When we start to make a profit we will both start earning, until then we are both putting our genitals on the chopping block. 3) Yes, when I find the right partner they will be appointed to the board and be issued with equity in the company in the form of ordinary shares. You will own a decent slice of the company. 4) I will only enter into this with someone that I can meet on a regular basis.
