CMS Website Assistance required from a left behind deigner
Gosh, it looks like I have a massive step to take here. I was thinking using a CMS would be a way of looking after the website with ease, but maybe not? Its all based around my dated techniques. I don't really want to give too much away yet, but I wont need DVLA access with this website. its a website which will just work in a similar manner. Nothing at all to do with cars. I will however, need geo lookup, that's for sure. If I am learning a new framework from scratch, such as Laravel, is there a specific learning platform you can recommend?

Hi Nock, Thanks for your quick reply. Thats an interesting link. So with that website, we are looking at coding from scratch? Is such a website possible to create using a CMS? Even if it was more simplistic to begin with?

CMS Website Assistance required from a left behind deigner
Hello, I am the previously qualified web designer who has got left behind since he left university 10 years ago, from the Introductions section. I am now looking to get back into web design, and want to create a website for my business. Its a long way off, and I have a lot to learn. I have to start somewhere, and here looked like a nice friendly place to begin my journey. I am keen to learn, read and research. I am tech savvy, and not afraid of giving anything a go. So here goes. I would like to end up with a similar website to the likes of whocanfixmycar.com .. not an exact copy, but based on similar lines. A huge leap I know, but i'm not afraid, yet! Now, I am in the very early stages of this. I know its going to be a huge amount of work, and I am not expecting to create this overnight. My web experience is basic when compared to the knowledge I will need to learn to build this website. Before I make any plans, research etc I am stuck which Content Management System would be the best for a website as interactive as this. My experience lies in HTML, Dreamweaver and WordPress - all of which I can't see would be powerful enough for this task. Unless I am missing something? Any thoughts from any professionals? Many Thanks, louis.howe

Hello! I'm here to get myself back up to date with Web Design
Hello Everyone! I am a previously qualified web designer ( as well as graphics and video ) from University, but haven't touched a website since I left Uni 10 years ago. I'm now looking to bring my education up to date myself and get back into website design for myself. I have previously worked with HTML, Dreamweaver, a Little bit of Flash and Wordpress. However I have been left behind somewhat! Its great to find a forum like this, where we can all exchange and share experiences to learn from each other. I'll post in the relevant section for the help I require. Hope to speak to you all soon! Louis
