Hi, I've worked on a wordpress website locally (purchased theme from themeforest.com) via MAMP https://www.mamp.info and wanted to uploaded it all to my Hostgator site host. I have Cyberduck sftp set up to transfer files. However, when I upload my child theme to wordpress/hostgator all my images I have in my locally worked on website and all my plugin's (and their settings) are not there. It's only showing the parent theme old ones I had worked on previously. How do I upload my entire edited local theme including all images and plugins, all those extras with their settings the same as locally? I'm hoping I don't have to do all it all again. Thanks

hi, I have purchased a theme from http://themeforest.net I downloaded Wordpress, using the child theme template and using http://mamp.info servers to customize it locally. I've set up my website via Wordpress dashboard but now I'd like to make more personalised customizations to the design. I have Sublime Text 2 as my editor. I've managed to be able to live preview index.html files I create myself using sublime text 2 and link it so I can view changes on a browser. *However - I have no idea how to edit on sublime text 2 the theme I purchased, so I can make these personalised changes to the code and then visually see them as I do them on a browser too (or live preview window). I uploaded the theme folder I downloaded from themeforest to Sublime Text 2 and have all the files there but if I view any of them in a browser it's just is a blank page. Do I have to connect it to Wordpress somehow? Or how do I set this up so I can start working on it? *How do I edit Wordpress theme files in an external editor and then visually see the website as a whole as I play around with it? Thanks for the advice. I have the time I really enjoy it and would like to learn. Is it something you have to go to university/study to learn? Or can you realistically teach yourself? I've been doing this online course so far https://www.codecademy.com I'm interested in how website designers know how to make all the different features and make the website behave how they like. And what their set up is, what they do and what they use. My problem is I love the theme I have but I also like different features in other themes and want to create some of the ideas I have too, I want to almost build a hybrid of the features and things I like to create my own personalised theme but not sure how. For example, in my theme, I have a search bar but I would like it to have a drop down menu in the search tab for users to be able to be more selective in their searches - similar to shutterstock.com search bar. But have no idea how build that into the search bar, how to do it so looking around for editors etc so I can practice and hopefully learn how to do these things. Thanks for the tips

Hi, What editor is good to use to edit wordpress themes? Preferably a free one but would be willing to pay if it made life easier for a beginner (I'm a total newbie to html/css/php). I basically just want to know how people edit html/php/css in a wordpress theme and be able to preview the whole site as you go and play around with it as you go (similar to wordpress dashboard but in an editor so more freedom to change things), then finally upload it to your website? How do website designers do this or design their themes? As using widgets etc in wordpress is ok but I still feel limited and want more control over the design and flow etc. I want to add extra features in the theme (which would require added code) and then also edit the css to accompany new code and also edit original css. How do you customise your wordpress websites beyond using just widgets and plugins? Thanks ps. I've tried editor Brackets I really liked the design and feel but I can't get it to load live preview with wordpress files from the purchased theme and finding it really frustrating as I really don't know how to load the website as a whole using the editor and play around with the code – I just want to be able to do similar to what 'firebug' allows you to do to websites but actually edit code for real and be able to visually see those edits as I go.
