I have just found http://www.designcrowd.com/ and I was hoping to start submitting designs to help me improve my work. My question is, with responsive design now the norm, and desktops working to different sizes, what is the norm for PSD dimensions and site widths? Last I heard the standard was 1000px but is that right?

Thanks for the tips guys. BlueDreamer, I usually do write my own CSS, but thought that Bootstrap would give me the ability to code up the site a bit quicker.

Hi all. New to the site, but have been coding on and off for around 10 years. Im currently using bootstrap to create a wordpress theme with php and was wondering, how can I make it more 'me' and take away that 'bootstrap' feel. Wuld I have to theme bootstrap from the ground up? or maybe I just need to bring in some psd work? Hello everyone, As you can probably tell from my user name, my name is Dean (if you got it then well done you, have a cookie*) I've been designing basic websites since my mid teens and the days of Dreamweaver MX and good old dial up (ah, the memories....) and after a string of dead end jobs and office politics I've decided to make the jump to freelance Web Designer/Developer. Currently I have experience in HTML and CSS, and am getting to grips with WordPress (2 days of headaches and confusion so far) When I'm not coding I'm usually playing video games (PC and PS4) watching movies (action, horror, animation, whatever takes my fancy) listening to iTunes (Metal and rock, with a splash of rap/hip hop, but again, whatever takes my fancy) or winding up my girlfriend with geeky references, bad jokes, and musings on what Id do in a Zombie Apocalypse. I hope to get to know some new people here that I can learn from, and have a laugh with, so don't be afraid to say hi! I wont bite (unlike those pesky zombies) *cookies may or may not be real
