  1. Thanks for the recommendation. That's the second time I've heard of 'TreeHouse'... I'll have to check it out. Is it similar to Lynda.com? What exactly do you mean by wireframe? In your experience, which CMS has the easiest learning curve? Thanks again.
  2. Hey guys, I'm a college student who is in desparate need of some extra cash. I know HTML and CSS and I'm pretty familiar/willing to learn with the adobe programs. I like illustrator and photoshop the most. I hand code my websites. I am really into interaction design and templates. However I don't know a lot of of dynamics of web design (PHP, javascript and such).. Can anybody help me find a good path to take to try and earn a little income on the side? Thanks, Kevin
  3. Okay, thanks for the advice! I will take it to heart.

  5. So one theme that I am seeing is PHP, am I correct? So the next step should probably be to learn PHP? I don't want to be dependant on other services, you know? I want to do it right, and effectively, cost efficient (when possible), smart, and flexible.
  6. Thank you all for the awesome feedback. I'll take a bit of time to review it all and respond. @Weedy101 I'm definitely going to have to give that tutorial a go! I was also considering starting to learn PHP using linda.com because I have access to an account.

  10. Hey everyone. I'm kind of a newbie. I know HTML and CSS and do some graphic design. Apart from that I don't know much. So I'm making this thread to just learn more about CMS, what they are and such. I've used CushyCMS before to put divs into my HTML, which allows a user to log in and change the content of those divs that I specified. It's really nifty, but the problem is that you have to buy the service after a while, and I'm a poor college student and cannot afford that. : ) I've also heard of people using wordpress. I've used wordpress before, but I just used it for basic blogging. So do you just create a layout for the wordpress website, or what? What methods do you recommend for allowing my clients to edit the content of their websites? Some examples would be really cool as well. Thanks!
  11. Thank you so much! : ) I'm trying to give you Rep, but i'm not totally sure how. hehe
  12. Hey all! New to the forum. I'm designing my aunt a website and I've been having troubles with one thing. I have a div, "nav" in which I have my navigation links. The links are displayed in block format so when you rollover them the blocks are evenly colored. If that makes sense? : ) So I'm trying to apply the CSS3 rounded corners using this generator http://border-radius.com/ to apply it to the main div so that only the top and bottom "blocks" have rounded corners. Here's the code I have so far: HTML <div class="nav"> <ul> <li><a href="/">Home</a></li> <li><a href="/">About</a></li> <li><a href="/">Contact</a></li> <li><a href="/">Etc</a></li> <li><a href="/">Etc</a></li> </ul> </div> CSS .nav { font-size:25px; font-family:UtsaahRegular; text-align:center; float: left; background-color:#999999; } .nav a{ font-size:25px; font-family:UtsaahRegular; color:#00CCCC; background-color:#999999; height: 100px; padding: 10px; display: block; } .nav a:hover{ font-size:25px; font-family:UtsaahRegular; color:#FFF; background-color:#333; height: 100px; padding: 10px; display: block; } .nav ul { list-style-type:none; margin:0; padding:0; } Sorry this is a bit sloppy, if you need me to clarify please let me know. I attached a file of essentially what I want to accomplish.
