connorroberts got a reaction from DariusShojaei in Old website vs new?
Hi Iems oo okay yeah I also agree with the colours... even though the colours are 'fairly' similar, especially the nav bar to my original site I think the fact that the opacity makes the red look a little strange which I may decide to change, will see what other options I have haha. Oo yeah i thought I would have problems.. I didn't want to make a 1 page site with a crazy amount of pages so thought I would make them bigger but I guess doing it that way can lead to the problems you have... will definately look into that thank you

Ahh yes i have just seen that... wonder why it has done that :S may have to google that one as I have no clue haha

oh and what do you mean? sorry im a little tired haha

When I'm coding, I can spend 12 hours without realising where the time has gone. I suppose the saying 'time flies when you're having fun...' applies here

I get tired, but I can work continously without too many breaks and I just find that I want to work right through; sometimes I could work all night because I'm enjoying it so much...sad I know

Hi Nicolasks, thanks for taking the time to give me some feedback , I totally agree with you about the background I thought that it was a bit overwhelming and made my eyes hurt a little bit which wasn't good haha, I have changed it now and I think it looks a lot better, what do you think? is that what you suggested or have I gone a different way aha?

Yeah, now looking back at the about page I also see with you that the grey could do with being a little lighter, therefore I have changed it just now ... about the text, this is one of the things that I will eventually change, just thought I would write a little something in there just to see what it looks like with headings etc as I don't like using lorum ipsum (whatever you call it) aha.

Yeah I wasn't entirely sure about whether it was in fact too simplistic as if you look at it theres nothing that makes you go wow he can use... etc etc thats why I added the jquery slideshow just to show that I can add some cool features, however its not yet complete as I need to re-size and change some of the images etc

Oo thankyou I will take a look at the websites you have posted as I have always struggled with colour matches and things like that aha :DD

Thanks, was very helpful , what do you think of it now? only made a few changes though

    Thanks!!!

    Icons surprisingly done on time
And an update on the previous design: http://dribbble.com/shots/1073136-Ideas-for-a-new-design/attachments/133017
Hope it's not too bad, still some work to be done on it, though

    Edit: There were 59 icons...

I ask this question to myself a lot. To me, I see the developer as someone who works on the back end of a system (with the server side coding and the database) with the designer being the person who works on the front end of the system, creating the mock ups, fancy graphics and logos etc.

With regards to creating the actual website layouts and the fancy stuff, like jQuery animations and CSS animations, I suppose the developer could be categorised into a front end developer and a back end developer, whereby the front end developer would be responsible for creating the sites template and making some nifty interactions. That's the way I see it anyway!

It's a tough question though really. My job role is web developer, but some of my roles include creating database structures, modifying the database, coding the back end systems, designing the user interfaces for said back end systems, coding the front end, creating graphics where necessary (which are never good ) and creating user manuals for completed systems. Doesn't sound like a web developer to me!!! More like a bit of everything hence my confusion

Perhaps some of the freelancers will have a better idea than I. I hope I've helped a little at least anyway

Im a very novice web designer feel a bit silly putting it up in comparison of some of the websites on here as they look awesome and mine... well you decide lol not the best image but best I can do ( i think) at the minute as its not online.

    Thanks,
