Hi In the event of a really sophisticated hacking attack which a webmaster was unable to solve him/herself, are there any specialist services available who can try to fix this for you for a fee ?

Hi I am based in the UK and I have created six websites as a very part-time freelancer - I have created these in my spare time and I am most definitely not a professional web designer. All of these websites are database driven and are used by local schools to manage one very particular aspect of their admin - I developed the system for my own school and then leased it to half a dozen other local schools. I just had a query about data security and liability from a school in response to a query from a parent. I take all reasonable precautions with website security but I am unsure how to respond in regard to the issue of liability. I created and maintain these sites at very low cost as a utility for schools. I know it sounds amateur, but I did not set out any terms & conditions at the time I set these websites up. I am beginning to think that maybe I should withdraw from the website business as I am too just small to afford any legal hassle. Maybe I'm getting out of my depth. So who is liable for data security - the webmaster, the client, the hosting company ? Any advice on best course of action ? Thanks.
