  1. I like what you tried to do with the site, but taking what dap said and just building on it really, I'm not keen on side scrolling (although I could slide !) not enough whitespace on the 'Our work' seems very cluttered for a simple design. It seems very 'narrow' and squashed down, you could try treating each section as a screen size so scrolling along would seem more like reading a book, just an idea.
  2. Not really the most appropriate section of the forum to post this in, you would find more replies in the PHP section assuming that what you are using.
  3. Thanks for the feedback, taken in to account what you've said I've also now worked on the navigation (the pink text link is the effect when the link is hovered over or active)
  4. Just started this project today, just finished the 'top' part of the website I'm rather happy with the outcome so far.
  5. For the font you could use Google Fonts and then most visitors should be able to see the same font you wish them to see or you can use @font-face in CSS
  6. Thanks for the insight, with me still been new with designing and developing I still have yet to find my own way of working, suppose this project is a good way to find out !
  7. Well thats the thing, I have an idea but not sure if I should sit down one day and type everything things like colours, specifications, who will access the site etc or if I should just dive in with a design and make it up as I go along.
  8. Just wondering what everyones process is from having an idea to finishing the website as I have an idea for a website project, however unsure on how I should go about it the best way, I have often thought of making my own personal website but never finish it also get a few weeks in and forget or stop. Should I plan each step and set deadlines even though its my personal project, should I treat myself as a client and ask myself the same questions a client would be asked ? Any insight will be appreciated.
  9. I've read several things online and in magazines were people swear by designing everything on paper first then move to their computers, I personally never have bothered with paper planning then half way through designing I become stuck and discard what I'm working on so the next design project I have will be done on paper first. For those who do design on paper first, a few questions. Do you design every single page e.g. contact, privacy policy etc or just the main ones also any tips on paper designing ..
  10. Similar to most people who have replied already, I'm all in favour of one page portfolios when I'm browsing on a desktop/laptop however when it comes to mobile you can't expect someone to wait that long for images to load and expect them to scroll that far down (they'll get a finger cramp).
  11. Designed these earlier today first time doing business cards, what does everyone think ?
  12. Hello everyone, Just thought I'd say Hello, introduce myself etc .. I'm Tom, I live in the UK I have taught myself everything I know about designing along with designing websites for the last 3 years, I have progressed a lot better with developing, my designs are okay however lacking something hence the reason I've joined the forum hopefully I'll be able to find help and decent critique.
