I have been mainly a server side Java developer for almost 10 years now. I have done very little with front end technologies. But have found my self a challenge...I am looking to redesign a site for a charity (it helps recover victims from human trafficking - a horrific trade!)...I'm learning Spanish and the site is only avaiable in Spanish and a little outdated so i thought i'd revamp it and provide it in english and spanish...this is the site http://www.fundacionmariadelosangeles.org. The content will more or less be the same..
Anyway i'm been thinking to do this Java would be overkill... I have been dabbling with PHP/CakePHP, my design/css skills aren't that great. I have read there are many templates these days and have read about wordpress. I will require a process to report missing people/girls so would require a upload process and maybe a small database..I also want to use CSS/HTML5 and make it very pleasing to the eye...How would you recommend I start this project, any tips with design, multilingual, content management etc, would be greatly appreciated..I'm looking for the simplest solution that's easy to maintain by the charity once it's developer.
Look forward to your thoughts
Kind Regards
David B
