IT WORKS!!! One thing though. How can I make the cookie secure enough so that it is accepted at highers levels of privacy? (other than low I mean)
  2. TypucT replied to TypucT's topic in Frontend
Ok I actually got that, BUT I'm not sure how to realise it. Lets assume I have made the cookie. I don't know how to access it (the PHP site doesn't really offer a good example and I need one), store it in a variable and force it onto a text field. Let me specify what I want: a function that stores the cookie's value to a variable ($str - I might be able to do that) and I want <input name="name" type="text" id="name" value="something" size="20"> to use the $str variable instead of "something" I'm guessing the first is easy, but the third one is a b**ch. Ofcourse this is just what I think is the easyest way to make this hapen, but I'm open to suggestions.

Hi, I think I can search the web for a tutorial explaining cookies, but the idea is usage. I am running a free to use guestbook (meaning you type a name and a message and post it) and the name section is a text line. The text line has an initial value and I want the cookie to containt the last typed name by the user so that it can be used as an initial value instead of the default. The bad thing is that I don't know how to use cookies in html or anyhow for that matter. Thanks for any help.
  4. Somehow I was certain that the .php was the thing. The funny thing is that I was about to ask 2 thing 1. What is the code for a new line. (apparently the same as in c) 2. Doesn't "w" mean that the file will be rewritten. If so then is "a" used for appending. Isn't that a coincidence. UNFORTUNETLY it's the same thing. I'm not sure if resaving the file as php is all it takes to convert an html page to php. In the site hosted by ME you will see that the page is actually php, but the other one converts it to html or something like that and it shows as html. P.S. I got sick meaning the site hosted by me will be online less than 10 hours daily.
  5. Yeah I noticed that line was useless but who am I to say it isn't. I have some programming experience with pascal and c and in everyone of my programs i forger ";", but the compiler gives errors and I never pay attention. Now I am certain there is no problem with the code, but something still doesn't work. I have no idea why. If I try It locally the page just refreshes. If I try it from the web... Page cannot be displayed. Here is the guestbook test page see it for yourself, view the source, etc. Let me just say that I hate it when things work for other people, but not for me. P.S. I doubt that our timezones will allow you to connect to my site because it's online 12-15 hours a day. I'm searching for a we hosting service at the moment. Found one!!! http://mizeriq.coolpage.biz/
  6. I believe I'm close now, but still something is not working. I figured it would be much easyer for you to just see the code itself. <form name="myform" method="POST"> <div align="center"> <textarea cols="50" rows="10" name="text"></textarea> <br><input type="submit" value="Прати!" name="send"><br> </div> </form> <?php if($send){ $_POST['text'] $myFile = "gb.txt"; $fh = fopen($myFile, 'w'); fwrite($fh, $_POST['text']); fclose($fh);} ?> This isn't a very important function of the site though. It simply looks empty.
  7. I'm sure it's extremely easy for someone who has more than one week experience with HTML coding, but I'm not that someone. I can't really see the part of the code that will help me save the message in a .txt or .html or any other type of file that can be embeded in a web page. So far I figured out the embeding part.
  8. Thanks! Now that I know the term it's much easyer to find what I need. P.S. I'm trying to use this only with a .txt instead of .cgi and it doesn't work. When the submit button is clicked the page refreshes and a Page cannot be displayed message appeares.
  9. Basically I want users to add comments to the site. I'm thinking a textarea with "Submit" and "Clear" buttons. I'm not sure how it's supposed to be done in HTML, but in any other programing language I would save the user's comment in a text document and simply use that documentin my program or in this case page. Point me to a site that gives information on "chats" or explain how I can do this by myself. Thanks in advance.
  10. Well, the question is in the topic. Can I make a background for my text using a picture? I basically want something like a window which contains text and center it on my page so that when someone changes his window size it stays in the middle.

Hi, I'm trying to embed some videos in my site and I tried a couple of programs and I get different results: 1. Nothing (with MS frontpage video insert) 2. A white square (with Dreamweaver) 3. An empty player (Media Player Add-in) It's the same for other users and now I'm forced to use a video hosting site. If you have any ideas on fixing the problem or a good add-in please share your knowlege. Thanks in advance. P.S. If you tell me of a good add-in please explain how I can use it because I'm a beginner.
