I always used fixed width, I personally hate stretch sites. Some can do it well, but usually they break or things look weird when it's all resized.

Looks like you have the functionality here, but are lacking a decent user interface to make it easy to see where to get things started. I understand with sites like these, load time is important, but you could add some more graphical elements to signify different object importance, hope this helps!.

Well organized, I like the templates on the homepage, those are usually buried so deep in the site but are often used, so that was a good idea. Looks good!

Hey, this looks pretty good, clean design. My only feedbacks / suggestions, it looks somewhat generic, maybe add some related photos (if the client doesn't have any you could use stock photos ) . Check this out as well, has some good tips for adding some final touches that make a huge difference in the end.

Good News, they liked the design and they are going with us. I don't know what that says about this experience, but it's nice that we took the risk because now we have a larger client ( from this area ) to show in our portfolio.

In regards to the suggestion on just avoiding clients or not doing the work without a signed agreement, I'm finding that more and more business owners are "shopping" around for web companys. They want to see what their options are and want to see what the prices are like, and I guess usually a portfolio should be enough for the client to see what we're capable of, but more and more I'm seeing they want to see a mock up. I'll keep you posted, hopefully we get the client and didn't waist time.

Hello Again! I would like to get some advice / feedback on way to handle comp. design with a proposal, this client requested one and of course if we don't end up getting the client, we wasted all that time. But on the flip side, if we don't spend much time on the comp, we risk losing to other web designer companies competing for the job. How do you find the balance? Thanks!

Here is another layout, it's for a local pool and spa business they install pools and also have various products etc. Wanted to give the viewer an experience of water etc. Let me know what you think, looking for helpful feedback that may improve the design.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I really do appreciate it. I was going for a industrial , mechanical feel and it seems the overall consensus is I may have went overboard on it and pushed it into a more artistic feel. I can see that. It was approved by the client so I doubt I will change anything, but I will keep these suggestions in mind for the future! Thanks guys!
