Definately going back to the drawing board and will be looking at some css tutorials online. I was getting frustrated to be honest at how old fashioned it looks and I didn't know which way to go from here. Thanks anyway, I'm cool with it for a first attempt and I'll be using it for my final assessment of my diploma, as they don't need anything with whistles and bells on it, just a basic website.

Thanks for the comments. Looking at my design now, I do think the banner could look a whole lot better, but first attempt I kinda like it. Didn't realise about the links, so cheers for pointing that out.

Yeah I have come a long way from nothiing, this time last year I didn't have a clue what was involved in a web page. I have studied a fair bit but only as much as my course (ICS - Bane of my life) is allowing I suppose. Not at all harsh! I'd rather know which way to head that stand at a crossroads! Yeah I do have Chrome, I shall investigate that tomorrow thanks. I do agree, it is a bit dated in it's design, but as I'm starting out, I'm still happy overall with the site. I may just change it to showcase my portfolio of Digital Art first and foremost then add the designing later (if anything should come of it) As for the local thing, yes, I totally agree now you say it. The sites I am creating are pretty basic and more of a web prescence than anything else. No frills sites so to speak. Anyway, thanks for your feedback, appreciated.

Still waiting on them getting back to me, as I've said local and just starting out. Got the itch and wanted to create something for myself. I'm not getting paid for their sites so I'm not going to be pushing too much. And no, as you have clearly pointed out, I would rather not turn jobs away! Thanks for your feedback.

Yes, facepalm...as I said it's only a local thing! I have a few friends who I am doing sites for, so I need some form of web prescence if I want to progress, right?

So, here is my first site for my freelance web designer/developer site. I don't think I've advertised being able to do anything I can't and I am only doing this on a local scale so no need for anything fancy yet! Anyway, I've been doing web design for about 7 months now and tinkering in photoshop. Please let me know what you think is good/bad and if anything could be enhanced/changed. God, I am so crap at this sorry guys!! On my C: I have Folder Ducklab as site root with html files, inside this folder is my images folder. so C/users/cazaroo/ducklabdesigns/images on my server, I have public_html which has all my html pages listed then my images listed. Is this where I'm going wrong? Do I need a seperate folder for my images? My other images for my digital portfolio are working though, just the header on ALL pages?! Think I'm trying to run before I walk, maybe I should head back to the beginning!!

My site root is DuckLab...with index, about etc Images is a sub folder in this directory named images Thanks by the way, appreciate it.

Hi - I've tested in ie, google chrome & firefox and the same problem occurs everytime, it's just the darn header. I don't have a link at the moment, well I do, but this is my first ever website and after looking at the standard of some beginners on here, I'm kinda nervous about releasing it to the critics!!! sorry File ext's are all .jpg confuzzled!

Ahh removed the / before image on the portfolio lot and that works when I live view it. Have to see what it's like on the server! Still have prob with header though

Hi, Sorry to ask a really stupid question, but I have uploaded my website to my hosting server, I've uploaded the whole site including all images to the public_html and ftp folders. My images are in an image folder within the root folder. Hi, I've recently purchased some hosting from GoDaddy, but have found the customer service to be slightly rubbish! I've been trying to get my site uploaded via the ftp that comes with the hosting (I do have access to an external ftp, but am happy to use theirs just to get the site up and running - plus I'm very new to all this), and whatever information I put in it just isn't working. I have a domain which is hosted elsewhere and I have changed the DNS Servers to point to the DNS information Go Daddy has given me, but still not working. I've also tried to set/manage sites in DW CS5 so I can test the pages on the server before going 'live' but it just keeps coming up with FTP error has occurred, no connection to FTP Server can be made. I've asked GD for a server name, and still they haven't sent me one. I'm so confused it's untrue. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi, I'm Carrie, starting up in web design and have nearly finished my diploma. Just looking for some friendly advice as the course I am doing is online and tutors seem a bit lax in returning queries. I'm hoping to start up freelance, and have 2 websites I am working on at the moment, as well as my own personal freelance site.
