  1. I tried Dizi's method and worked perfectly, thanks
  2. I've managed to confuse myself again. Firstly, I managed to place a logo box in the top left of the page, to the right of the header. Now, I wish to put one opposite, on the right hand side of the header. However, when I try this, It insists on going to the right of the sidebar, and not the header. Here's the code: <style type="text/css"> <!-- body { background: #666666; margin: 0; /* it's good practice to zero the margin and padding of the body element to account for differing browser defaults */ padding: 0; text-align: center; /* this centers the container in IE 5* browsers. The text is then set to the left aligned default in the #container selector */ color: #FFFFFF; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 100%; } .thrColLiqHdr #top5 { width: 95px; float: none; height: 100px; margin-left: 2.5px; background-image: url(../top%205%20box.gif); } .thrColLiqHdr #container { width: 60%; /* this will create a container 80% of the browser width */ background: #FFFFFF; /* the auto margins (in conjunction with a width) center the page */ border: 1px solid #000000; text-align: left; /* this overrides the text-align: center on the body element. */ margin: 0 auto; } .thrColLiqHdr #logo { height: 60px; width: 90px; float: left; background-color:#0080FF; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0; padding-left: 0; border: 5px solid #000000; } .thrColLiqHdr #header { height: 62px; margin-left: 100px; background-color: #C0E3FE; padding-top: 3px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 5px; padding-left: 30px; background-image: url(../New%20bg.gif); } .thrColLiqHdr #header h1 { margin: 0; /* zeroing the margin of the last element in the #header div will avoid margin collapse - an unexplainable space between divs. If the div has a border around it, this is not necessary as that also avoids the margin collapse */ padding: 10px 0; /* using padding instead of margin will allow you to keep the element away from the edges of the div */ } /* Tips for sidebars: 1. Since we are working in percentages, it's best not to use side padding on the sidebars. It will be added to the width for standards compliant browsers creating an unknown actual width. 2. 5. I have set the container on my css to be 100% - yet when I preview it in firefox and ie (using Dreamweaver CS3), it only takes up around 80% of the browser window - meaning that it is centred somewhere to the left. is it the resolution I have my screen set to, or can I change this? thanks
  6. I haven't found it yet, I'll keep searching Perhaps you can customize it to appear.
  7. only one thing that is missing that I loved off the old version - the "most read" and "most emailed" sections on the right hand side. I used to use these a lot other than that, great, as you can change it so the text is always set to be smaller.
  8. one other thing - decided to use a 22% margin (as that coincided with the sidebar) and am now attempting to put in another Div to the left (inside the margin). This will contain the websites logo. However, it keeps placing it above the header div - whereas i want it to the left of it. any help?
  9. Thanks for the kind welcome, and happy new year Everything seems so easy once someone else tells me, works perfectly, thank you
  10. I'm not entirely sure how to describe this, as I am new to the world of web design. But I am using Adobe Dreamweaver CS3, and have a page that is layed out as follows: I have drawn the black solid line on using paint. This is where I would like there to be something that will not allow the text for the title to go further to the left than the right border of the left sidebar... hope that makes sense in other words, I always want the title lined up with the right hand side of the left sidebar. Are there any ways to do this? (I used a DW template to get the header/footer & 2 sidebars) thanks OKAY, this problem solved, now I am stuck on the next one :S please read my post further down thanks
