  1. Hi there, Would anyone be able to help me with coding this footer? (please see the attached jpg that was done in photoshop) I'm trying to finish off a website and I have fairly limited HTML/CSS experience. Basically, would anyone be able to show me quickly what the coding would be for this (HTML5, using <footer> tags) as I'm really struggling to make it work. I can't seem to get the background image, navigation list and remaining text to align properly like the jpg from photoshop. Thanks in advance, Nick
  2. To be more clear-then yes I have a basic knowledge of the areas I mentioned. What I'm trying to find out is what sort of criteria would be needed to gain employment. If I'm capable of producing a decent portfolio using the knowledge i've got, how far will that get me? A junior postion? No chance of employment without knowing PHP, MySQL etc?
  3. First of all, I'd like to say a quick hello to everyone as i'm new to the forum. I've been into web design for about 6 months and am keen to start a career in this area. So far i'm really interested in the actual web design (front end) side of things, rather than web development. I already know HTML, CSS, XHTML, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Flash, Fireworks. I also have very basic knowledge of Javascript. I've made about 5 sites and i'm close to putting together the beginnings of a portfolio. Is this enough to get employed or do I still need to learn the more web development side of things? e,g, PHP, AJAX, MySQL etc. My question is: Are my existing skills are enough and could I find a junior position in a web design company or is it essential that I develop further skills such as PHP etc? Any advice would be much appreciated as there seem to be a lot of conflicting views i've come across about what you should know, need to know etc....
  4. First of all I'm new to this forum so a quick hello to everyone here. Basically I'm really interested in web design and would be extremely grateful if anyone here could offer me advice on how to get employed in the industry. Is there anyone on the forum who could perhaps (preferably by email) answer a few questions I have? It shouldnt take too long and i'd really appreciate anyone who could take the time to help me. In particular I'd like advice on a specific course I'm looking at studying and whether it is worth undertaking-I'll obviously provide more details to anyone I chat to. Cheers, Nik
