I'm looking to do some websites during my studies at uni, so that if I do end up doing Web Design I will have some form of 'base' to it. But as a freelancer I'm not too sure what I should have or do in certain situations. Client Editting - Some people might want to update their own websites, is there an easy way for clients to do that without them hassling me or touching the HTML/CSS? Hosting - What would I do in a situation where the clients wants me to host the website? Or even if they have domain, will they give me access to edit their website or do they expect me to know what to do/send them code? Just some newb questions I want to get out the way as uni didn't really go over much apart from Contracts. Would be nice if you post some past experiences as well? Just to share with the forum and well, so I don't do something silly =). Thanks in advance!

Last year for my 1st year I had a coursework where I had to design a website for myself, with 3 pages including the homepage. It was all good and I did pass but I think my way of going about it was a bit long and not convient. 1. I drew up a quick sketch of what I wanted my homepage to look. 2. I then made all the images that I had to make in Photoshop 3. I then started the CSS/HTML 3a. I made the CSS inside the HTML file then took it out later so I knew what it will look like whilst I was making it 3b. I went back to the CSS file a lot to add in a lot of div's or things which were only needed on 1 page (Is this bad or is it normal?) 4. FINISHED! Not to mention the way I done my positioning on the website was with position:abosolute, is there an easier way? Cos I spent most of my time trying to get my positioning right.

Hey, my name is Benji and I'm currently a 2nd year student studying Interactive Media Design at Edinburgh Napier University. I'm still new at the whole web site designing, but have found a great interest in it and have decided to take it on board and learn more about it. I have a basic knowledge of HTML/CSS but is willing to learn more about it, along with some Javascript. Hopefully I've came to the right place to learn more!
