    When I try and create a new rails project in Netbeans 6.9.1 I get the error noted here http://wiki.netbeans.org/FaqRubyRakeFetchingFailed The project is defiantly built on the correct version and I have ensured everything else is correct but I am still getting this error. When i try bundle install in the project directory through terminal I get the following error Bens-MacBook-Pro:bam bengibson$ bundle install /Users/bengibson/.rvm/rubies/ruby-1.9.2-p290/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.9.1/rubygems/dependency.rb:247:in `to_specs': Could not find bundler (>= 0) amongst [rake-0.9.2] (Gem::LoadError) from /Users/bengibson/.rvm/rubies/ruby-1.9.2-p290/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.9.1/rubygems/dependency.rb:256:in `to_spec' from /Users/bengibson/.rvm/rubies/ruby-1.9.2-p290/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.9.1/rubygems.rb:1210:in `gem' from /Users/bengibson/.rvm/rubies/ruby-1.9.2-p290/bin/bundle:18:in `<main>' Anyone have any clues????

Is there anyone here that can help, if so I will post how I attempted to install rails and what errors i get. (Dint want to wright it all out now and find know can help )
  4. Thanks I shall do that. Does anyone know about the padding issue when viewing I'n tablets and smart phones?. Should I always be using padding I'n my container tag to stop content being pushed to the very sides or should i do that I'n a separate stylesheet that targets these devices
  5. Hi, Just started working on my new portfolio and i have a few problems. One is the lobster font appears diffrently arrcoss diffrent computers even within the same browser ie macbook pro firefox displays it every diffrently to imac firefox. It also appears completely diffrent on diffrent orientations of the Ipad :S. Another problem is how it displays on the ipad and iphone. They fit the site on the screen perfectly with no space between the sides making it look awful. Currently i have resolved this by adding left padding to items inside the content div giving some side space but this means i am sacrafising space on normal monitors. Is there a special method to make my site more compatable for tablets and smart phones or should I be using a seprate style sheet to add the padding when users are on an ipad??. My development area is here Thanks for any help
  6. I think they both need some work ATM. I would recommend. *Removing rounded corners from contact form to suit the twitter feed box (your corners are to rounded and draw to much attention away from everything else). *Make each contact field the same width. *Make the contact fields push right rather than towards the middle. *Adding better spacing to the text inside the contact forum fields *Align the text inside the contact forum better particularly the send text. *Toning down the white background on the contact fields(Maybe use a similar color to your background and then add a light border to it as currently it draws to much attention to itself removing users attention to the rest of the content). *Change your social network icons they don't seem to suit the design. There are plenty of free ones on the internet. (Try using some color ones to bring out the color in the design a bit more currently its a little to dark)
  7. Hi, Taking on board what some of you said about my first draft design I have made some changes based on what was suggested hoping to get some your thoughts again on how i tackled them including *Adding some of my most recent work to the top fold *Adding anchor tags to the top-fold *Removing grades *Updating buttons *Changing project descriptions so they don't mention university (yet to do) I still need to fill the empty circle under about. I will also be adding social network links above the map in the footer. I will also use 3 different images of websites in my recent project area rather than 3 of the same one Thanks Heres design V2
  8. Thanks all iv began to update the site with the suggested changes. It's amazing how quickly you see things when there pointed out but competly miss them otherwise. I will repost the phase 2 results shortly for some more critism +1 too everyone
  9. Hi, Been working on a new portfolio design for the last few weeks and was hoping i could get some constructive criticism to improve it. This is my first attempt so there will likely be a number of areas that need improvement. Design is the main area i struggle with and this is one of the first proper designs iv attempting to make in Photoshop I mainly try and specialize in development so go easy on me Cheers
  10. Hi, Im currently building a php application that will provide a University style education area. Basicly it will allow an admin to add new modules and materials such as worksheets and reports and also view uploaded assignments. It will then allow staff to create an account and select a module they would like to learn and then donwload the materials to work through as well as submitting there assignment. All the learning resources will be seperated into weekly blocks such as step 1, step 2 ect to allow staff to slowly work through them. What im intrested in is the best way to decided on the classes requred for this system. Generaly i just start building and creating classes as the become apparent to me but i realise this is a pretty inefficent way to work. Can anyone tell me what process they use to identify the classes of a system in the planning stage? Thanks
  11. Think I have found it now. writemaps.com

    Hi, I have two separate jQuery scrips running in my document.ready area but they seem to be crashing each other. The scrip is as follows: <script> $(document).ready(function(){ // placeholder support for older browsers if(!Modernizr.input.placeholder){ $('[placeholder]').focus(function() { var input = $(this); if (input.val() == input.attr('placeholder')) { input.val(''); input.removeClass('placeholder'); } }).blur(function() { var input = $(this); if (input.val() == '' || input.val() == input.attr('placeholder')) { input.addClass('placeholder'); input.val(input.attr('placeholder')); } }).blur(); $('[placeholder]').parents('form').submit(function() { $(this).find('[placeholder]').each(function() { var input = $(this); if (input.val() == input.attr('placeholder')) { input.val(''); } }) }); } //back to top jQuery // hide #back-top first $("#back-top").hide(); // fade in #back-top $(function () { $(window).scroll(function () { if ($(this).scrollTop() > 1500) { $('#back-top').fadeIn(); } else { $('#back-top').fadeOut(); } }); // scroll body to 0px on click $('#back-top a').click(function () { $('body,html').animate({ scrollTop: 0 }, 800); return false; }); }); }); </script> I tried removing the last tag }); from the first script as i assumed that was closing the doucment.ready function but that still doest seem to fix it :S Thanks
  16. Never mind, fixed it. What i had to do was remove the :italic part and simply at font-style: italic; in my css Thanks for the help mike
  17. Dint seem to work I have found the problem lies with the :italic part of the font deceleration. Removing this makes it render properly on all of the browsers but it looks much better with italics. Any other ideas? Also does any one know why it renders properly on all browsers on my iMac 27 but only firefox on anything smaller??
  18. Hi, I am using Lobster from Google web fonts for my headings on my new Portfolio and it appears to be fine in all browsers on my iMac 27 however it is different on safari and Google Chrome on my iPad, iPhone and Macbook pro however normal on my Macbook pro under firefox. This is what it should look like (And looks like on my all browsers on my iMac and only firefox on my macbook pro) And this is what it looks like on others (ipad, iphone and macbook pro under safari and google chrome) I have declared the font like so: <link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster+Two:400italic&v2' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'> h1, h2, h3, h4{ font-family: 'Lobster Two', cursive; }
  19. 1.You need to make the background a higher revolution for larger displays as on my 27inch display it cut offs to a grey background. 2.Also the logo seems to be at the far left corner of my screen and not centered like the rest of the content as well as the search bar being the same but to the left. 3.Your navigation hover cuts off some of the text. 4.The drop down navigation could do with some transparent background to help separate it from your background, think that would help clear it up. 5.Your full story buttons are not properly aligned and could do with some spacing at the bottom 6. maybe add a border around some of the images to bring them to life and separate them a bit This is what i recon would improve your site but each to there own. Good luck
  20. lol hows that not been fixed. But honestly you would not believe how this track pad broke i just tapped it, there would be no point lying on here as its being fixed for free anyway and the link i posted shows the same for 4 different people. Just a simple click and then a crack appeared.
  21. It will now you said that
  22. Just thought id share this for anyone with an out of warranty apple product Just got my new iMac 27 and then on the same day my year and half old MacBook Pro gets a nice crack down the track pad from a simple click. Doing some research I am not the only one to have this happen, it appears there's a screw somewhere in the top left that causes it see here. So i phone up and get the usually its out of warranty nothing we can do. Asking to speak to the manager i spent 30 minutes arguing with him about what other companies would do and quality and price of there products until I got him down to going half's on the repair. Still not happy I kept going and picking up when he contradicted himself or said something stupid (which he did a lot) and then another 30 minutes later he gives in and offers to repair free of charge with an extra 90 days warranty. So don't take no for an answer and don't believe them when they say theses nothing they can do about it Persistence pays off!

    HI, So iv been building my portfolio site on Wordpress for the last month or so and all I had left to do was some touching up, and then BAM my website has been replaced with This site has been hacked by (some person who really needs to get a life). This is the first time iv really experienced any kind of hacking problems so I am not sure what to do and even how it happened. I built the site on Wordpress (latest version) and I assumed (clearly foolishly) that because its built with Wordpress the security was already taken care of IE measures to stop SQL injection ect. So far i have removed the Wordpress files and database and about to install a fresh copy but how can i find out what might have been comprised such as my admin password and also what maliciouse code he might have left behind in my root folder. Also can some tell me how he might have been able to do this and what I can do in the future to prevent this? Thanks
