I am a little unsure of what to do next regarding a a google map for a commercial site build. My main concern is copyright issues etc. I have read into the terms regarding the use of a simple Google map but I cannot find a definitive answer regarding copyright permissions etc. I have also looked in to the Google maps API service and from what I have read it is a real pain to integrate it into the site build. I just really need to know where I stand copyright wise using a standard embedded google map on a commercial site build? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Sampson

I am planning on providing hosting for my Clients via a Reseller package. I understand that generally you charge the client a monthly charge (for the Hosting) but should I charge the client as well for use of thier own Control Panel. Should I absorb the cost of this into the monthly hosting charge or does it make more sense if I charge separately for the use of the control panel Any info would be appreciated.

I have built a site for someone and I am currently hosting the site on my package. I only have access to the control panel so any that goes to the cpanel/email on theis forwarded to another address of my choice. My problem is that if I link say a hotmail address in my PHP when the person receives an email they are unable to reply to the sender. When you click to reply it just displays the "noreply@domain.co.uk etc". My cpanel mail works perfectly well but when I link any other address to the code I am unable to reply to the message the only option is to copy/paste the senders address into a new message. Any help would be great.

I am planning to purchase a domain and host a site for someone on my package. What is the standard procedure for purchasing domains. Should the registrant details be the "client" or should the domain be registered in my name and address? I am just wondering what the majority of people do when purchasing domains for someone else. Any info would be great.

I am looking at purchasing a book ideally aimed at beginners on PHP. I have looked through endless reviews on amazon and I still can't seem to find the ideal book. I need a book that has a good chunk dedicated to forms and validating the fields. This book looks good but all the reviews seem to mention that it is riddled with errors. Any recommendations are welcome...

Hi Domh, I might look into the CAPTCHA scripts. I am happy with my CSS and XHTML but I cannot seem to make any headway regarding Javascript or PHP.

I have been trying to sanitize the fields for a contact form on my site. After purchasing the Javascript:missing manual it looks like I have been able to to add filters to my form and it seems to be working well. here is thepage I just need someone to look over it and see if it actually OK. Is this enough in terms of protecting against spam and malware. Be gentle with me I only started coding a couple of months back.

Hi Pat, I plan to purchase the domain through my host.

I am currently building a site for someone and just wondered how I should tackle the purchasing of the domain. I will be hosting the site on my package and wondered if it is advised to leave the purchasing of the domain to them or should I purchase the domain for them and register the clients details when purchasing the domain. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks for all the help. The only problem is that the person I am building the site for has very little experience concerning all things internet and they don't want the hassle of sorting out the hosting etc.

Thanks for the reply. I am currently with Dataflame on the work package.I am allowed 2gb of disk space, 40gb data transfer, would my current package be suitable. The client Isn't bothered about a c panel as I will be updating and looking after the site for them.

I am currently building a site for a friend and need a little advice concerning hosting. My Current package allows to add an extra 2 domains to my account. I have asked for a fee for the hosting the site and I was just wondering if this is the right way of doing things. I have built the site for free I am planning to host the site for them for a fee. Hi, Jock my portfolio/Website is online and I have added one of the sites I have recently completed. I have also just added my site to my personal profile.

I have gained qualifications with the Open University in Web design and development earlier this year. I am now in the process of finding a placement with an employer. Through my local Jobcentre I have tried to secure a placement with several local companies unpaid for the duration of 13 weeks. So far none of the companies have been able to offer me a position through this Internment scheme. The other problem Is that these schemes offer no real security as the employer can quite easily let you go after the scheme ends. I am always improving whether It be through online tutorials or text books but I can't seem to get the break I need. I have also spoke to designers in my local area and followed all the tips ( Build a portfolio site, do a couple of jobs for friends/family etc) to gain experience. I would ideally like time In a company but if needs be I will have start up as a freelance designer. I just feel that If I can't get a placement I am left with no option but to do it myself.

I added my site to google but had to change parts of the Meta description after submitting it. I have changed the description and uploaded the site to the server. How long does it take for google to revise the meta descriptions of sites? I checked today and It still has not changed in the listing. Thanks Sampson

I added my site to google exactly a month ago today. My site has all the appropriate meta "Keywords" and "description" tags but when I do a keyword search I cannot find the site. When I do find the site google does not display the description tag on the listing on the title. Any info would be appreciated.
