  1. Hi guys, We recently re-designed our website Boxmodel Digital Media - Web Designers and are looking for a few opinions from people who work within our industry. Please reply with your feedback and any recommended design/functional changes, as we are still looking to add more prominent calls to action, new portfolio items etc. Many thanks David
  2. Hi Mebo, I have to agree with Blue Dreamer, £500 is a crazy price if your client requires a bespoke design and development. As a guide, we have built property sites in the past for £3500 - £5500 and many of our competitors charge £10K plus. Yes £500 for a simple 3-5 page brochure site maybe with a contact form, but that's it. Best of Luck with it..... Web Designers
  3. I really like the sitepoint books - www.sitepoint.com. Make CSS/XHTML and PHP very easy to understand. Web Designer
  4. I have to agree with Martin's comments regarding keywords within your content body, however it is also good to use your keywords in your header tags - <h1> <h2> etc. Google will crawl these tags as they more often than not reside at the top of your webpages and for example if you are a web design firm, it would be useful to have a page about website design and call this page "website design" in the <h1> / <h2> tag. This is assuming that you are targeting this specific keyword for optimisation. Overall though you have to find the right balance between good copy that users will be genuinely intersted in and also keeping the search engines happy with the keywords that you use in the body of your content. Thanks David - Web Designers
  5. I think that the best way to do it is 1) take a look at competitors websites and make a list of the good ones 2) Get a sketch-pad together and draw a few wireframe layouts 3) Then open Photoshop and draw a homepage mock-up design. 4) Get this design approved by the client/your team 5) Get to work on the design of any logged in pages, My account pages, contact form page, search etc etc. again in photoshop 6) once approved start hard coding the templates. 7) optimise the templates for seo. plug-in any back-end code (asp/php/.net etc) 9) testing 10) reflection. Also can I ask anyones opinion on our existing website - Web Designers. We are in the process of re-designing but it's always good to get opinions in case we are simply changing for changes sake..... Thanks
  6. Hey Thanks, I'll take a look. Our present site design is quite dark www.boxmodeldesign.co.uk so we are re-designing it.
